Hmm....I don't see why not but I really don't know. I can't imagine you'd lose your backed up files just because you bought a new puter.
I really had to work on some text and the ipad wasn't good enough for that, so I bought a crappy Samsung Netbook with everything in Korean at the airport. Kind of annoying when you have to guess your way through how to use a computer (only reason I can sort of use it is that I pretty much know the commands in English and German, so I can guess). Will have to do for the next three days.
You should be able to do that. When my wife got her new Macbook, I loaded up her old stuff from the Time Capsule.
So I went to the Apple Store in the Beverly Center in LA. They tried, and it was indeed the hard drive. They were able to access it from another computer, but it was extremely slow. They do not offer any data recovery service or anything. They ended up exchanging the hard drive. A discussion ensued on whether I could get the old hard drive back. They said they have to send it in, I said I need it to at least try and get my data back. In the end, the store manager gave it to me, which I thought was kind and the right thing to do.
