Apologies if this is duplicating a topic. I need to get one of the above. It's hard not to be swayed by the iMac Thunderbolt display and whole setup... but our uses aren't super intensive. we do have a LOT of media we like to keep on a computer in the form of photos, videos, movies. And can be heavy internet users at times. but other than that, just typical computer use. I'm not editing movies or anything. So would a Mac Mini be cheaper just paired with a third party real nice monitor? Also, does anyone know, if I pair with a 3rd party monitor, I assume I can then use that monitor to hook up a PC to as well? One of the downsides of the iMac is that i can't use my laptop PC from work with it as a screen. And what would be the best monitor, assuming I want something 27 inch with an awesome display ala the Thunderbolts?? Appreciated!
maybe this can help u. i saw it yest. http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-57578593-37/apple-now-selling-refurbished-27-inch-imacs/
I saw that, too... went to look 30 minutes ago, and there selection is already down to very few options (I looked briefly last night)... i guess there was a run on them
I'd still go with the iMac since I love the display. I have the last PPC iMac mounted on a wall in the kitchen with a wireless keyboard. Love it. I found a good deal on this refurbished iMac 27".$1699.00. I've had great experiences with apple refribished products http://store.apple.com/us/product/FD096LL/A/refurbished-imac-32ghz-quad-core-intel-core-i5
lol, I already sent him an email. I'm at work now if anyone needs to call the store. I just can't publicly mention which store I work at. Also unrelated, I got new shoes: Spoiler
Faced the same decision for the wife's computer a few months ago. Decided to go Mac Mini and paired it with the Dell 2713HM (can find deals for $550). Chose that monitor b/c it supports mini displayport, which is the output of the mac mini and you can get the full output. Wife loves it and I love the $ we saved vs the all in one (plus being able to easily upgrade ram in house)....
