I really hated Lady in the Water. But I really enjoyed The Village. I wasn't expecting that plot twist and it is one of my favourite movies ever. As for his other movies, I already knew the ending for Sixth Sense before I watched it so some of the fun was ruined. I thought Unbreakable and Signs was just nish nish. Not too impressed.
I think he acts just as good as that Dr. Suresh guy from Heroes. That guy goes over the top sometimes.
The 6th Sense was something special -- Unbreakable and Signs could have been much better with just a few minor changes. I haven't watched one of his movies since Signs and it sounds like I haven't missed much.
What gets me about everybody is that most of us have an opinion on this guy and a lot of us still see every movie and nobody seems to be short on commenting about his movies. M. Night is one controversial dude. With the exception of Lady in the Water, most of us probably saw all his movies at the theater.
[movie] The Happening (I don't have a way to get the original thread) Is anybody going to see this movie?
The kid from The Santa Clause and Zoom was on Jay Leno last night. It went something like this at the end: Leno: "So... you're in The Happening... what is the movie about?" The kid: "I can't tell you." Leno: "Ok, ok... so... what character do you play?" The kid: "I'm sorry, I can't tell you..." Leno: " " The kid: "Well, it's fun... and it's a good movie, but I can't tell you." Leno: "Well, anyone has a price..." The kid: "Not M. Night, no he doesn't." Leno: " What is everyone going to the movie going to have a blindfold? " Something like that. So not even the actors can tell you what the movie is about...
critics hammered M. Night again. The guy needs to rethink his work. Try something new. He turned down the Indiana Jones that came out a couple of weeks ago. I believe he's signed on to do an adaptation of Avatar next. That should help.
I don't trust critics, because they usually don't jibe with my sensibilities anyway. Like the movie, Black Snake Moan. It was panned by nearly half of the critics on rottentomatoes, but I thought it was a great film. I don't understand why these critics pan a film, if the movie doesn't fulfill their own moral standards. Those are the same people that would rather read a James Patterson novel than a William Faulkner one, simply because patterson is not going to challenge their precise beliefs. That being said, I liked this movie. I actually felt that Knight missed an opportunity and if he wasn't so worried about having to make sense it could have turned the end of the movie into a slasher film, with the old woman. Now that would have been cool.
one of the worst movies i've seen in a long time. i expected it, so i was just there for the cool death scenes anyway, but i'll just go buy the newest RAMBO next time i have a desire for dead bodies. for a second there at the end, I thought we were gonna get a lecture from Al Gore
He was kind of overt, the full metal jacket reference, and the way the private seemed so "programmed." I actually thought that he was going to turn the old woman into a slasher flick, that would be a M. Knight move and I would have thought that would be a unique spin on a slasher movie. Most slasher flicks begin in the ordinary way, if M Knight would have brought Walbergs character to the house and then have a slasher flick, that would have been cool.
This is one of those "it's so completely terrible therefore it's so completely awesome" movies. I'm scared of the wind now. And no, I'm not spoiler tagging that sentence.
Horrible... Just a horrible movie IMO. Anyone else laugh when Bubba and his friend got shot in dramatic fashion. "Come out you p*****s!" "Yeah, you said it bro!"
