Sixth Sense: Insanely good Unbreakable: boring Signs: Pretty lame at parts. The Village: built up interesting parts....then turned out to be lame. Lady in the Water: watched 5 min and left Dude is over rated.
Well, I'm already breaking my promise about leaving the thread...but this is the one that surprises me. People harp on and on about the nuances of the aliens...what they could and could not do....what they were susceptible to....the aliens were a side-show. They weren't the point. It was completely a bait-and-switch job. The story you're watching ends up being one entirely about the meaning of faith...wrapped in a sci-fi/horror package. My opinion is that if you're spending a lot of time thinking about how the aliens would have already died in humidity because of the water thing, then you've really missed the bigger picture of the story he's trying to tell and why he doesn't give a damn about those details. See...D&D.
i think he should not have a twist in this new movie and in turn that would be twist. the village wow, how do you spell horrible in old english.
Signs and Lady in the Water didn't really have plot twists, things just found their way into their place, like any other story. Also, ... Lady In The Water takes my breath away
Wait...what?? Signs didn't have a plot twist?? It went from aliens attacking to a story about faith in the span of about 30 seconds. Everything that seemed nonsensical and tedious found purpose in the last few minutes.
That's not a plot twist. The movie was always about the family, specifically Mel, and his outlook on the events, how he deals with problems... And it all comes together at the end.
You sound like my friend Freddy in SugarLand. Freddy: "Hey can I get a coke?" Waitress: "Oh sorry. We only have Pepsi products." Freddy: "You're dead to me..."

Well, after reading the basic story outline on Wikipedia... I've got to wonder Spoiler How did he get this movie greenlighted? The story is totally absurd. Plants killing people only in the US? Only people in loving relationships are okay?
The Village would've been better if Spoiler The monsters were real and it didn't take place inside a giant park in the present day
"Unbreakable" is my favourite of his films. I have a memory of him talking about a sequel...some time ago. !!!??? Robin Wright blew me away in this movie. At the very least, she deserved a nomination. Elijah Price. Well-formed character, atypical of most screen villains. Pretty precise in detail....down to his ride. There's a bonus scene on the dvd where Bruce Willis enters the weight room while the football team is working out. Heads to an empty bench, fully loads it w/45lbers & then...("Short Circuit") BIMBO! A fan of the character might enjoy. Wise exclusion though.
Yeah, I think this is the worst title/poster combination I've ever seen. (Ok, not ever but pretty horrible). still, I like most of his films better than most. Didn't see Lady in the Water, but Unbreakable is a personal favorite of mine and I actually liked (and 'got' Max ) Signs and enjoyed it. I thought THe Village twist was a little weak, but there are parts of it that remind me how talented the guy is with certain aspects of directing.
