Agreed. WCF was a bad result huh? It was all due to Harden, huh? So fire McHale since it was due to Harden. NBA finals this year! Next year even better! So great to have a fresh face on the sideline, not one of the 50 all-time greats. Finals here we come!
So it's taken how many years to realise? IF Harden is the problem, why has the club banked their future on him? And IF the problems in the first 10 games are related (even in some small part) to personal issues Harden may be having, why not give him a leave of absence? Why not then trade him end of last season when no doubt his trade value is about as high as it's ever going to be?

What in the world does him being top 50 as a player have to do with him as a coach? It didn't take a genius to see he wasn't a good tactical coach.
The team lives and dies with Harden. Notice that Harden was widely considered the runner-up MVP and many thought he should've won over Curry. No one had McHale even in the top 5 for coach of the year. He's considered a below average coach but no one nationally will admit it because he's well liked and respected. Rockets were playing like crap until guess who stepped up.

In the podcast, they clearly talk about how Dwight hasnt improved with McHale and that great players don't necessarily turn into great tutors of the game..Lowe, IIRC, says mchale lacks that ability. The only people who didn't talk about MC weren't familiar with him. They thought he was Daniels 2.0...analysts have said they were surprised signing didn't get any more buzz, flew under radar. Also, IIRC MC took less money to play here, so he's more than a min player. He took a paycut to get in with a system that fit him, in order to get a new deal. I agree about Harden, but we're in too deep to backtrack now..have to roll with him for better or worse, at least for now. Can't trade him when stock is low.
