    Whether or not a player drives or doesn't, finishes or doesn't finish can easily degenerate into a matter of opinion. However, getting to the FT line is generally indicative of players that attack the rim. You may choose to disagree but you'd be hard pressed to develop logic suggesting a standstill shooter gets fouled as much as a player driving.

    For 2006-07m here are the Rockets's FTA's per 40 minutes played:

    Head = 1.9
    Battier = 1.5
    Alston = 2.33

    Contrasted to the Cavs...

    Gibson = 1.6
    Hughes = 4.8
    Pavlovic = 3.3
    Varejao = 5.5

    Beyond perception and opinion, FTA's signify a strong connection to the Cavs being significantly less a spotup team than the Rockets. :D

    These stats indicate that the Cav's role players are more effective at driving the ball than the Rockets players. However, it has nothing to do with how many times they dribble penetrate as compared to the Rockets scrubs.

    Given that SF's quote states they shot about the same % of 3's vs 2's, I'd have to say (on the surface w/o a deeper look) that efficiency is what's demonstrated. We'll go with that for now and re-visit it later.

    you didnt adjust for pace or shots taken,as well as what others noted regarding fouls draw. Also you keep including Varejao - like I said that's a terrible comparison for Battier. You might as well use Shaq.

    It's not 3's vs. 2's, its jump shots vs. inside shots.

    Possibly CD saw something that JVG has prevented us form seeing. Possibly we might now geta chance to see if Novak can develop into THE SPOT UP THREE POINT CRACK SHOOTER like the one we were lead to believe he was. :p

    In the course of the regular season, the Rockets AND their opponents took 13,031 total FGA's. The Cavs AND their opponents took 136 fewer. If anything, the Cavs pace was slower and they still got fouled more.

    Forget Anderson Varejao. Gibson went to the line fewest of the Cavs discussed and he was point 1 (0.1) behind Battier. Now if you want to think that Battier attacking the basket vs Utah bore any resemblance to Gibson vs DET, we can agree to disagree.

    And that's a distinction because....? :confused:

    The Cavs drive...the Rockets don't...end of discussion.

    Unsure - you brought it up. But it does better distinguish who is taking inside shots vs. outside shots than just charting 2's vs. 3's.

    LeBron drives more than tracy, certainly. But anyway, the Rockets post up - the cavs don't. Blah blah blah, etc. Who cares - they won slightly fewer games playing a much easier schedule.

    One team played in the East and had its stars bother to show up for key games in the playoffs, and its players hit just enough open shots - Don't tell me that Daniel Gibson's fearsome driving is why they left him open.

    Really if you are going to rail against the 06-07 rockets, the Cavs are the worst example to use. They suffered from some of the same ills as the Rockets did in Game 5, where their roster literally spent the entire 4th period standing around and watching - yet they were able to ride a transcendant superstar performance by Lebron to take the advantage. Granted they probably have better overall talent, but a lot of their talent like Larry Hughes has been sucking miserably of late - in fact he's out rafering rafer, and manages to shoot a 3pt% that is higher than his 2 pt%.

    I knew someone was gonna bring this up...

    ok while the rox do have a horrible history of drafting, you gotta hear me out on this. Dont hate on CD for not drafting Gibson. The kid refused to work out for anyone but the cavs INCLUDING the rockets. Now I loved his play, but that pre-draft shafting was pretty jerkish on his part- he wasnt a highly touted player or anything, and he was trying to play his way onto a team of his liking.

    John Elway, Eli Manning, Daniel Gibson- which of the three doesnt seem to belong? so there. dont be hating on CD for this one, there are plenty more draft picks to yell about.

    If TMac made his shots and made some moves, everyone on the team would have been clutch

    Lebron carried the team with his presence and heart

    something Mac and some others on our team are missing

    exactly, gibson is a much more well rounded player, people who believe luther can play point are delusional. it ain't happening, he just isn't the ball handler. the best head can hope for is to be a steve kerr type player.

    Luther Head - Live by the three and Die by the three.

    Anyone who has ever played or followed basketball knows that nobody can always hit the three and that there will be games where there is an off night. It's like asking a home run slugger to hit a home run every single regular season major league game. It's not gonna happen.

    That being said, I think Luther has a bit more game in him. Instead of just getting the ball kicked out to him when the defense sags on T-Mac or Yao what can Head create? Can he move without the ball and get easy layups? Can Head finish off a pick and roll? Can he get easy buckets on backdoor cuts? That's the question.

    Not only that, but I am curious to know what this entire Rockets team will be able to do in the motion offense. Not only Head but the entire team. Only time will tell. I can't wait for next season to start so these questions can be answered.

    By the way, I do agree with Yao in the low post but c'mon when the opposing defenses aren't giving you anything on the low block, you can move to the high post and kill them with back door cuts. That would mean Yao on the high post passing to cutters going to the lane because defenses focused on Yao would move to cover him on the High Post. I never said Yao should be on the high post all the time just move up there from time to time to shake things up on the defense.

    Adelman will be very very good for this team.

    Here's how Chad Ford sized up Cavaliers hero Daniel Gibson entering last year's draft:

    Draft Projection: Late first to early second

    Similarities: Poor man's Ben Gordon?

    Positives: Gibson has just about everything you could ask for in an offensive player. He's a smooth athlete who has good size for the position. He has the ability to score from the perimeter or by attacking the basket, and he's great in the open court. He gets to the line. Good on-the-ball defender.

    Negatives: Scouts were never totally convinced that he's actually a point guard and his play this season has raised serious concerns. He still makes too many mistakes, has difficulty handling defensive pressure, over dribbles the ball and appears turnover prone. If he is a two, then he's undersized for the position.

    Summary: Gibson was ranked very highly by many scouts coming into the season, but his uneven play at the point has given them pause. While there's nothing wrong with Gibson's offensive game, he continues to struggle to run a team sustaining serious questions about whether he can be a full-time point guard at the next level. He may turn into more of a scoring combo guard in the pros. Word is that he's got a promise either with Cleveland at No. 25 or the Rockets at No. 32.
