Luther's not that bad. He definitely has his limitations. But he's a consistent shooter than can get hot, and hit big crunch time shots. Also, rarely forces up bad shots.
Luther and Steve r total different type of players. Luther's shooting is much better than Steve although he looks lost on the court...I guess coach will give SF3 chance when he totally understand how well the current rotation works after a few games. Steve will get his chance to prove himself. But still he needs to change himself to fit in the new system, which is hard for a player who needs the ball in his hand all the time...
Agree. I think Luther is getting alot of flack for his terrible playoff performance last year. Dude was our bench last year. He finished like fourth in sixth man of the year voting. Once he gets going from behind the arc, his value to this team will be more evident. People just need to understand that coaches go with players even when they struggle especially if it is not at the teams expense. A young player like Luther has to be handled differently than a veteran like Steve. I think thats one of the reasons Adelman still uses luther. Once a young player feels that a coach loses confidence in them, it traditionally doesn't bode well for their self confidence.
so because we won tonight, there's no room for improvement? obviously it's still early but i find it funny how people thought van gundy was holding back head's other abilities. dude's a one-trick pony who is too short to play sg and has zero pg skills. if anything van gundy used him to perfection. i like having him around and his best skill is certainly very useful in this league but i don't know about rotating him in on a regular basis. you can play him in spots most nights and definitely if another team goes small, but it gets frustrating watching a big guard abuse him on defense. he got some good minutes last year playing the one while tracy was the primary ball handler, but now we have mike james and it's harder to justify giving head many minutes.
Luther Head was +4 tonight. He made things happen even if he didn't light up the box score. In any case, Luther Head is the NINTH MAN in the rotation. He's averaging about 9 minutes a game, which sounds about right. But hey, if you want to rant and rave about any particular player regardless of facts, go right ahead. This board is full of people like that.
I agree. Once luther starts hitting those threes, all this luther hate will go away. It is funny how knee jerk some rockets "fans" are. 40% plus percent three point shooters don't grow on trees. Dude is trying to find his role. As I stated, he was our bench last year. Now he is a forgotten man, so to speak. Give him time.
i've lost my patient on Luther,he always plays like that,i dont think he got space to improve himself, what do you guys think?
Couldn't put it better myself. Man this board is damn fickle and after a loss I am scared to come to the GARM but damn now this board is just always upset with something. 4-1, only loss coming IN DALLAS in a game we were right in the middle of... I can't imagine if we were 1-4 with losses to spurs, jazz, and lakers...... I don't even dare thinking about it.
He also made great decision and shots the game before. Give me a break. Adelman knows better than you.
I completely agree with the poster Luther was someone we needed last year on a talent deprived team this year I just don't see what he does for us. Everyone knows he can knock down that open three so the shots he used to get are not going to be there. Even if he is producing offensively it doesn't matter because his defense is such a liability.
lol.. the problem with some people is that they watch the game in such a superficial manner that they are completely blinded IF: a) we won b) the guy who has been messing up all night gets a lucky break (kinda like Luther wasting 15 seconds off the clock just standing there with the ball, then losing it, then somehow getting it back and throwing up a desperation shot, bingo! made it! attaboy Head! Head is our savior!! why the hate on Head? he's great!! he hit a shot!! well, that might be the case, but he also airballed a shot so badly that it fell down in Yao's hands. and in that "brief" 12 minutes he played, he lost the ball a couple times resulting in 4 points on the other end, got burned several times on defense, and made the offense look terribly stagnant. and this is not implying that I want Francis instead of him. Francis better lose that Jelly Belly before he gets on the floor, but the way Head has been playing, I would much rather have Lucas on the floor instead of him (oh wait, I take that back, Lucas sucks ), I would rather see more James/Bonz/Batt/heck, even Snyder @ the 2 instead of him!
Actually, I always think Snyder can be a great defensive weapon against strong PGs of this league. It's intriguing to think how he would fare against Terry the other night.
U mean the one where he dribbled the ball till the last second with Yao in the post before firing a desperation jumper or was it the airball that Yao converted into a dunk.
