sounds like an awesom time. I got the chance to talk to him for ~15 minutes last year and he did not disappoint. Very animated, well spoken and his insight into the background situations we couldn't see is priceless. and he was all over the Cato bandwagon when I spoke with him as well. And if you think about it. He was the biggest loss in the trade for t-mac. that was the one position we couldn't seem to fill.
i love kenny, but how great would it be if he replaced kenny, then him, shaq, and chuck are all going at it? great read, clutch. jvg is a character, to say the least.
Thanks for the read. JVG was always a fun coach who worked his ass off. Our offenses may have been pretty stinky sometimes, but you knew it was killing him when we lost. He was very funny as a head coach, too. Didn't BS, wasn't afraid to throw basketballs at Stevie, etc.
The offense looked horrible because he didn't have a lot to work with. All he had were T-Mac, Yao, Shane, Rafer, Luther, during most of his stay here. The 04 squad was a beauty to watch and that's because he had a great system that brought out the strength of that group of guys.
Just very happy that he is living in Houston. I really hope he will stay here forever but I am pretty sure he and his family really loves Houston.
But you have to remember that was largely his doing. JVG wanted grizzled vets like no one else, and kept pulling in guys that could no longer contribute well on offense. There was no inclination to bring in a capable 3rd option, and that's what killed us season after season when Yao and Tracy missed stretches.
