Lull is better defender and better overall player than Beverley

Yeah, we do have tape. That's not good for Beverley. I mean, I loved Beverley when he first came, and he was the spark that the Rockets needed that year. However, after a couple of years, you can see that he has virtually nil point guard ability. His defense is good and energetic, although it has declined (possibly due to injury). His defense is also a little too hyper at times getting him stupid fouls. His presence on the court is less of a psychological boon for the Rockets than it once was, but it does still seem to get in the heads of the opponents still.

It just can't be overlooked, though, that Beverley is an offensive drag when he's playing. He doesn't assist or really draw people to him. He shoots threes....better than in previous season, but still inconsistently. Everybody will still flock to Harden on offense if Bevs is out there.

I think defense can be taught. We've seen it with James and the entire team this past season (though it did decline across the board, excepting Ariza, over the season). Bevs is a fan favorite, but he's not the pressure-relieving guard Harden wants and needs. Is Llull? I don't know; people seem to think so. But Beverley certainly isn't if you watch the tape.

Teaching a shooting stroke is much easier then teaching defensive instincts.

All the points you made arent relevant to Beverley because despite having PG next to his name, he doesn't handle the ball.

If he can come in for 32 minutes, play great defense on the opposing team's PG (which in the WC, the position is littered with all stars) and shoot 38 - 40% from the 3pt line, I dont really care what else he can do.

Agreed... I feel like I'm in the minority for thinking that I would rather bev not be on the team. Especially given the crazy contracts were seeing flying around. One or more teams are likely to give bev something really stupid and I want no part of that. Excited and optimistic for llull.
