I don't believe the Rockets ever interviewed him.

He was scheduled to interview in Houston next, but accepted the Lakers' job immediately after his interview with them, so never got to Houston.

Rockets being used as leverage again, just classic.

Leverage? I don't think so. Brooks and Thibs didn't bother to wait a few days to even interview with the Rockets. Walton probably laughed when told the Rockets had requested an interview. I don't think many people view the Rockets as much competition for a top coach.

Good luck to Walton. I just think he's too much of a gamble for us compared to LA.
We have a team that was/should be competing. LA have youth and have missed the playoffs for a few seasons now.
Too many unknowns. Not disappointed we missed out.

All you JVG bible thumpers do realize that the reason the Rockets defence was so good under JVG was Thibs was the assistant coach in charge of D? Hiring JVG for his defensive prowess is kind of like hiring Jack Pardee as your coach because of the great defense without hiring Buddy Ryan with him.

Thibs is a good coach, but we have to give JVG credit for picking Thibs for his staff. Remember that it wouldn't just be JVG, it would be JVG plus a picked staff.

Also remember that JBB was the defensive coach for Kevin McHale... doesn't always mean a lot.

Sarcasm or not... When the gm sometimes has more say on things on the court (Yes, he's the gm, but he's not the coach), it definitely can hurt candidates.

"sure [new coach's name], you'll have the title... But.... Shoot the 3 always!! 3 is better than 2!!!". Lol, I'm sure a lot of coaches are excited about that, you know like when the gm of GSWs/Spurs tells their coach what to do on the court. and obviously it might not be completely like that but... The media is already putting that **** out there (lol, they really love this franchise), so now whoever joins next is going to be instant scapegoat if things fail to launch.

Also someone should start a thread with "[new coach's name] needs to be fired" or however it goes, we'll probably see that the day of or maybe in preseason, hahaha.

    Blessing in the skies.

Dont think Luke will be able to enforce Harden to team rules like riding together on the team plane on away games.
