Willy T needs to be more patient at the plate... which should come in the next few years. If he doesn't walk more in 2-3 years you have to drop him down the the seven or eight spot.

Yep... I totally agree with you.

Burke has a better eye, can hit for more pop, and has decent speed... Willy has amazing speed, but little else. If/when Burke settles in and hits his stride, I see him being a decent OBP guy with occasional pop.

Willy will have to work at drawing walks because right now, the only way he gets on base is with infield singles. He could be a great #7, 8 hitter, with his knack for bunting for base hits and stealing bases... but a good #1 hitter should either have decent pop (the Biggio/Ricky Henderson type), a decent OBP (the Johnny Damon/Craig Counsell/David Eckstein type), or just be a total freak with the bat (Ichiro).

But... he's young... and will ultimately improve. Either way, I think these two are going to be pretty stand-out players for this team in the years to come.

I have a feeling Willy T will develop more power as he get older. He is already a pretty strong guy if you seen him. That homer he hit in Florida was a bomb, at least 430 feet. I think he will around maybe 10-15 homers as he get older and more mature as a hitter. I don't think he will walk more because I believe you are what you are. He is a very aggrssive hitter and will always be that way.

Then he isn't going to be a leadoff hitter for very long.

In other minor news, I went to see the Hooks play last night, ( great place to watch a game). Charlton Jimerson hit a walk off homerun in the bttm of the 12th. J R Phillips hit one also, I never knew he was back in the league.
