Tim MacMahon: "Luka was gonna sign the supermax. Why didn't you sign him and then if you really wanted to trade him [...]" | Nico: "Well there's no guarantee he would sign a supermax" | MacMahon: "He has guaranteed it, he was bawling on the bench" | Nico: "Well like I said, we can agree to disagree"
https://www.si.com/nba/mavericks/ne...-not-being-charge-dallas-mavericks-operations He was saying he sold it but will still run bball operations during the time of the sale. Here he is saying he fully expected he will run the operations.
"I fully expected to run basketball [operations]," Cuban responded. "The NBA wouldn’t let me put it in the contract. They took it out. I thought [the Adelsons] would stick to their word because they didn’t know the first thing about running a team. Someone obviously changed their mind." it's not anywhere in the contract. naive for Cuban or anyone else to believe otherwise If he wanted control, he shouldn't have kept majority of the shares and where's the quote where he "promised " LOL
If he didnt want control why would he say he expected to run basketball operations? According to him he had a verbal agreement he would still run the team when he sold it so what quote are you still looking for? He literally said they had a VERBAL AGREEMENT (aka Promise) he would still run the team even after he sold it. He expected them to stick to their WORD (aka promise) and they didnt. Unless the Mavs new owners call him a liar I dont see what your point is.
QUESTION: Someone pointed out that at the end of the day . . . .Dallas just didn't want to wrap up 350 Million into one player No matter how great the player . . .that is like Half the Salary cap Rocket River
Tim MacMahon: "I was talking to an executive today, and listen everybody asks me about Nico's job security all the time [...] but this executive's saying, "Man I hope he makes another transaction cycle, it's always good to have a desperate GM out there."
that's fine but if you list down who are worth the supermax Luka will be one of the few... but they could not gone through the trade process better? like they really had to do it before the trade dealine? like do they really have to reach out to LA ONLY? can they get a better deal than AD and Max Christie? shouldn't they have talked to Luka's agent first?
If this were real trade and not an NBA mandated trade, he would be fired already. The owners, if they really didn't know how good Doncic is, know by now. If they didn't know the magnitude of robbery this trade was, they should know by now. In this scenario, Nico is the only person in the world that still stands behind the trade. I bet even Anthony Davis would admit to the lopsidedness of the trade. There is just no way this is real.
The Trade doesn't work on NBA 2k or the Trade Machine. It was too one Sided. No, 5 - 1st Round Picks or anything significant.
Probably the most obviously crooked thing to ever happen in the history of sports. There is NO WAY this happens if not in favor of LeBron and the Lakers. No. Way.
They sacrificed Luka and they actually shortened their Playoff window because AD, Klay and Kyrie are all but young, old and injury riddled. Rebuilding and then expediting the process would have been much better.
Luka Doncic reveals that on the night of his trade, when he was informed, he threw his phone, shattering the back glass. It is still the phone which he uses.
