bjggfffffflfgiobkgkghgvfbghgbgf I knew of the gambler of that name from Bill Simmons podcast. Did not think it was the same guy. Funny company Cuban keeps, though the guy sounded intelligent on the podcasts. Must have an impressive non-gambling background.
Luka is going to sign the extension. Is it possible to sign 1+1, meaning he gets a player option in 2nd year. This way, he gets his money first year and then he can bolt after that. He is a restricted free agent after all and there is no way Dallas is going to let him go. I guess he could take the qualifying offer and become a free agent after that, paving the way for him to sign with the Houston Rockets.
Not possible. New contracts for RFA have to be at minimum 2 years with no options. QO (13 million i think) as you mention is the quickest way he can be a FA.
Luka may be the one guy young enough and good enough to bet on himself and pass on the first extension, knowing “someone” would take a chance on him even if injured later.
Jamahl Mosley no longer with mavs had very close relationship with luka wonder if him and Silas are close.
Odd that the Mavs have had so many problems after drafting what looks to be an all-time great level player. Cuban needs to get his shet together, you can't fumble this ball anymore Porzingis looked like a good move at the time, it's hard to put blame there, but the roster construction outside of that just hasn't been great.
FatHorse: ‘I don’t know how many people are going to be excited to play with Luka’ Doncic’s generational talent has drawn plenty of high praise from his peers and predecessors, but according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, admiration of the 22-year-old All-Star combined with Dallas’ big front office moves may not be enough to sway superstars to Dallas. “I don’t know how many people are going to be excited to play with Luka,” Windhorst said during an interview with Shan and RJ on 105.3 The Fan Monday. “I think Luka is, maybe, a difficult person. He’s a great player, but when you watch the Mavericks play, he’s barking at the coach, he’s barking at his teammates, he’s barking at the officials. He’s always barking about something. He can really be an irritable guy. “So, with a guy who has options, I will be interested to watch to see how that goes going forward. I do think that Luka isn’t a guy... let’s just say it’s not like going to play alongside LeBron [James] or Kevin Durant, guys who you can tell really form good bonds with teammates. I think he’s going to be a challenging guy to play with sometimes, but if you win, ultimately that’s usually going to be the only thing that matters.” Doncic’s on-court temper was a big concern for the Mavs last season. His complaints toward officials landed him in trouble a few times, putting him dangerously close to triggering an automatic one-game suspension for racking up too many technical fouls. His chemistry or lack thereof with outgoing head coach Rick Carlisle and Kristaps Porzingis also drew considerable attention. Windhorst was not the only one to question Doncic’s ability to play well with others on Monday. During an appearance on First Take, former NBA player Kendrick Perkins said he would take Hawks guard Trae Young -- Doncic’s frequently compared counterpart -- over the Mavs superstar if he were the general manager of a team. “If I’m a GM and I’m starting a franchise, I’m taking Trae Young,” he said. “You know why? Because I know one thing, I’m gonna keep my job, I’m not gonna walk away or get fired or let go. See right now, what’s going on in Dallas, we don’t know what’s going on. The coaches are walking away, the general managers, the front office, it’s a disaster over there. And that goes to show me that something is going on in that locker room with their star player. “It looks to me, guys love playing with [Young]. I can’t say the same for Luka.”
Talk about recency bias. Sure, Kendrick, you would take Trae because he AND HIS TEAM are in the conference finals. Sure, Windhorst, playing with Luka won't be like playing with your sugar daddy LeBron. There's nothing abnormal about a franchise player going through multiple coaches. Are there concerns over the mass exodus we're seeing in Dallas? Maybe but that's at an organizational or ownership level and not because Luka is a mean ole bully. People like to revere Jordan and Kobe for their cut throat tenacity and brush off the way they treated their teammates as just tough love. But when Luka gets a little mad at his coach or teammates it's the end of the world. Note: IDGAF if the Mavericks imploded; I'm a huge Luka fan and it's tiring to see these professional drag him down. This is definitely feeling like Harden v Curry through the lens of the media all over again.
