The same narrative that started around Harden can be done with Luka but for some reason nothing negative sticks.

 

Wait until Luka has expectations, everyone loved Gannis until the Bucks came up short in embarassing fashion in the playoffs.

On the bright side, the Mavs are a mess, fat Luka + Hiring Jason Kidd + Prozingis getting max money to be the #3 guy on a title team at best.

No one says anything? Pretty sure this has been a topic for a few years. Lowe and McMahon were just talking about it which is why it has come up again. He hasn't caught too much grief most likely because he's still putting up phenomenal numbers, probably the best ever for his age. But, if he keeps having anterior pelvic tilt issues and doesn't start winning, I expect the criticism to continue to get louder.

 

I have not listened to Lowe in a minute, did they talk about this on a recent pod?

 

Thanks for making my point for me, he should already have expectations since he is always in the MVP discussions and the fact that he ran a championship coach out of town does not get any comment, people reviled Harden because of McHale.

 

Yep, on the one yesterday with Kevin Pelton and Tim McMahon. McMahon talked about it. (Mc and Lowe also had a lot of Rockets talk on that pod.)

Luka wont have any chance of being one of the GOATS or even a perennial MVP level player if he doesn't improve his conditioning and dedicate himself to improving his shooting.

He was clearly not in optimal shape even before this summer's weight gain. Until he devotes himself to improving his fitness like Lebron/Curry and more recently Jokic, Luka won't be in the conversation for best player in the NBA. Furthermore there is zero excuse for why his ft% is so abysmal (69% this season) and 73% career. His shooting form and mechanics are fine, which leads me to believe it is a lack of focus and practice.

That said, people forget that Luka is 22 years old. Players/people that age generally DO NOT get the same amount of criticism and expectation foisted upon them as someone in their late 20's. When Giannis, Curry, Harden, Jokic, CP or PG were that age, they were mainly celebrated for their potential and rising performances. Only Lebron was immediately scrutinized and to a much lesser extent KD and now Luka have also experience an increased level of scrutiny/criticism at such an early age.

Thats of course because they have perform wildly above expectations and or came into the league with immense expectation. Luka avg nearly 29 and 9 his second season! And just last year his third in the league, he avg nearly 28 and 8. Those are crazy numbers for anyone let alone a 20 and 21 year old. The idea that Luka isn't getting scrutiny and criticism compared to most other players is silly. Last year (only his third in the league) criticism about his complaining to the refs and body language was already a national topic. This past spring/summer it was his attitude and relationship with Carlise, Vulgarus and Porzingus. His weight and conditioning has been a topic for 2 seasons now and recently became a bigger issue due to him ballooning to 260.

 

What is with all the fat superstars in the NBA?

Luka is well known to be a big fan of cardi-b and not cardi-O.

 

Bro people say negative things about Luka's weight all the time. Bill Simmons brings it up a lot. They talked about it on No Dunks (formerly the Starters) just on today's episode. We aren't Mavericks fans so we're not looking out for these things but they're out there.
