I agree on the Hayes should play with Yao part - though I hope your statement regarding "positive for the team when he's on the court" isn't related to Lenovo. I expect Chuck's Lenovo stats to take a dive this year.

Hi people, I'm the newest Rockets fan. :D

I'm Argentine, and I'm very happy with Scola finally making it to the NBA. And also happy that it is with the Rockets, a very competitive team in which he will start (sooner or later).

I have seen that many of you don't know Scola very well, so I will try to change that.

Scola is a 2,07m, 27 y.o. PF (only position he can play). He is the best at his position outside the NBA.

He is mainly an offensive PF, who excels in the back to the basket game... his posts moves are awesome, really awesome. Can score near the rim (in every possible way) and nail mid-range shots. He doesn't shoot threes. Good but not great rebounder, his defense used to be a liability some years ago, but thats not the case now. He developed a lot.

He starts for the Argentine National team, being the second offensive threat after Manu Ginobili (Nocioni being the third). Is the main star of Tau Ceramica (Spain), team where he used to play with Nocioni (Bulls)

He is also the All time top-scorer of the Euroleague.

    Some of his accomplishments:

    named:
    2006-07 All-Euroleague First Team
    2005-06 All-Euroleague First Team
    2004-05 All-Euroleague Second Team

    also

2006-07 ACB League MVP. (the best league outside the NBA)
    2004-05 ACB League MVP.
    2006-07 ACB First Team.
    2005-06 ACB First Team.
    2004-05 ACB First Team.
    2003-04 ACB First Team.

    won:

    with national team:

Gold medal at the 2004 Olympics (25 points and 11 rebounds in the final)
Silver medal at the 2002 World Championship
Gold medal at the 2001 Americas Championship
Silver medal at the 1999 South American Championship

    with Tau Ceramica (Spain)

Made the Final Four of the 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2006-07 Euroleagues.
Second place in the 2005-06 ACB League
Champion of the 2005-06 Copa del Rey.
    Champion of the 2005-06 Supercopa.
Second place in the 2004-05 Euroleague.
Champion of the 2003-04 Copa del Rey.
Champion of the 2001-02 ACB League.
Champion of the 2001-02 Copa del Rey.
Second place in the 2000-01 Euroleague.

    Great info scola. Thanks!

If he comes over and does anything close to what Ginobili did, or maybe Nocioni, we have made one of the biggest steals in league history.

Well, he is our second best player and he has been NBA ready for some years already... we were losing hope he would finally get there. So, I'm really happy he gets the chance.

This move will bite the Spurs on their... well you get the idea. :p

Don't know if he is a fan of any NBA Team. But he had practice sessions with the Suns and the Spurs some years ago.

I think he was asking YOU which NBA team is your favorite. You answer should be: I love Rockets, and hate Spurs, Mavs, Jazz and Suns. ;)

mmmh... I'm not sure I should say this... please don't kick me out. :p

I used to like Barkley's Suns when I was a little kid. We didn't get to watch matches in those days, just a show called "The Magic of the NBA" on Sundays night...

Then of course I wanted Manu and Chapu (Nocioni) to win... but not a fan of their teams.

I was a big admirer of the Rockets in the Olajuwon-Drexler days.... please let me stay! :D

Good videos. His athleticism and inside moves give us something we haven't had in a PF in years. Does he have any kind of a mid-range shooting touch?

It's ok, without Barkleys suns would we really be CLUTCH CITY??

haha anyways I like Barkley even though trading for him was a big loss to our franchise, he was cool though. The point is you are a Rocket and you despise espn, spurs, mavs, cuban, and the jazz... right??? RIGHHTT??? j/k its all good bro, welcome to the board, hopefully Scola flourishes here and enjoys Houston.

Thanks alot for all the Scola videos!!!

Yes, he has developed a reliable mid-range shot in the last few years. Can't shoot threes though.

Could you comment on his defence? With Yao in the middle, he will need to light on his feet to cover Yao's weakness. He will need to cover stronger and taller PF like Duncan, Stoudmire, Boozer, and a player like Dirk who plays a lot at the perimeter...

On the offensive end, now he will not be the main go to guy any more, since we have Yao and TMac. But he definitely have a lot chance of taking mid-range open shots.

Do you think he will be happy about this kind of new role?
