Scola is a good all around player. But i really want him to work on his finishing at the rim. He is 6'9 and does not dunk the ball. He seems to avoid contact alot. I really think if he works on that and also his shot blocking skills, he be an even greater part of the team.
The make-up of the team is different this year, so I go by the current sample (this year) with most of the current personnel (minus Bonzi). The team gelling and playing without McGrady is what made the streak possible when he came back, in my opinion.
Are you nuts? I think in Blinebury's chat the other day he wrote something about how Adelman would trade one of his limbs to have Yao back.
Well...he has the biggest affect on the game, regardless of if he's better or not. The last couple of years Kobe and Shaq played together i think Kobe was a better player but most people would rather recognize Shaq because he had a bigger affect on the game. Both players are very good and i might give Yao the edge but i don't think their far enough apart for it to even matter. It's more like Batman and Superman than Batman and Robin. You could say Superman is unstoppable but their both on the same level as superheroes.
Luis Scola is easily one of the best players in the world. The NBA is just the highest level of competition, yes, even higher than the Olympics. Any NBA player, even Ryan Bowen, is a world class athlete and one of the best in the world at what they do...
Not that I disagree with the sentiment, but seriously...is that what you got out of that entire interview? It's not even what the interview is about, not even close. Pryuen, unglue yourself from Yao's crutch for a second and you will realize that this interview is actually about **gasp** LUIS SCOLA!
You say what u will, 66% is 66%. An earlier poster had it right about most impactful. When kobe/shaq was in their prime, people said kobe was the best player. Even Shaq said he was the best player, but they had a sub .500 winning % without shaq and 60% without kobe. Just like last season when the heat were struggling without shaq. Shaq comes back, d-wade goes down and the heat win 60% of their games. So u tell me which is more important.
There's no way that "out of sight, out of mind" applies to Yao right now. Just look at this message board. How many posters are wishing Yao was back to lay a whipping on the Jazz? And again, Blinebury just pointed out the obvious in his chat the other day when he wrote that he was guessing Adelman would trade a limb to have the big guy back. As for the separate question of which individual is more important to the team I'd say Yao to a large extent constitutes the inside part of the inside-out game. If you want to compare win/loss records I'd say it makes a lot more sense to talk about this season, which has a different coach, a different look and a different team. I think it's pretty obvious why Scola likes to play with the guy: he's huge, he plays deep in the paint and for both those reasons he attracts a lot of attention. That frees up the rest of the Rockets to take open shots.
Both are great...T-mac has done more with less and if t-mac was out, we'd miss that scorer and we'd be in trouble...With both, we'd be unstoppable...
