Last years starting group has been much less effective this year, so I support the change at PF. Some numbers (per 48 minutes): Code: yr unit min off def net 06/07 RA-TM-SB-CH-YM 525 104.7 80.1 +24.6 07/08 RA-TM-SB-CH-YM 345 92.0 89.1 +2.9 07/08 RA-TM-SB-LS-YM 153 94.8 87.3 +7.5 It's kind of striking how that starting group with Chuck has dropped off this season. Perhaps the quality of competition faced has increased, or maybe this group has just had a harder time adjusting to Adelman's offense.
I agree and I think the emergence of Landry is making it possible to start Scola. Landry gives the team an offensive option off the bench. Without him, we would have been left with Hayes and Mutombo as the second unit. Also, you've got to give credit to Adelman's creativity when it comes to the frontcourt rotation; it's really helping the team get a lot out of each player IMO. He even gets effective minutes playing Landry and Hayes together when the team goes small.
you need to elaborate if you're goin to say it like that. becasue kenny thomas has been a very good player in tha league consistently for a few seasons. he was even a 14 and 10 guy in tha nba for a minute. he's a much better rebounder than scola.....
If you were to pick either one in the draft whom would you choose? For me, it is Luis hands down...... Luis has an overall better game than KT.... As for rebounding, can't argue that so much, KT had a nose for the ball, but was limited on the offensive side and was short. DD
My only problem with Scola right now is the free throw shooting. He should be better than 59% or whatever he's shooting. He should at least boost that up into the high 60s. I like that the Rockets are taking advantage of his post up game more and more. And for a big, he runs the court extremely well. Hell, I wish Tracy ran the court as well as him!
Although he's still learning the NBA game, I don't really consider Scola a rookie, since his game is already so polished and fine-tuned.
now im worried that when our three rookies really appear in the playoff ,they will be tensional just like Head in last playoff , i hope they should be like Hayes ,i wont forget Hayes's dance in the playoff forever,it is the most beautiful dance in the world.
Luis Scola Rebound per 48mins: 11.94 Kenny Thomas Rebound per 48mins: 12.04 I wouldnt call 0.1 more rebound per 48mins "much better"
Don't forget Scola is olympics golden medalist and FIBA american MVP. He will make big plays in playoff. I don't know whether Landry and Brook will be good in playoff. In fact, I cannot wait to see it.
They should have do a Luis Scola hair night promotion at the Toyota center. First 10000 fans will recieve a Luis Scola hair wig.
Off topic Has an NBA uniform ever done as much harm to a franchises' credibility than THAT thing? I'm being serious. Rockets had a veteran team of older players and they all looked like jokes on the court in those stupid unis. Drexler in red and yellow = Classic Drexler in pajamas and pinstripes = walking dildo Yeah who cares, but I almost guarantee Barkley would be remembered more if the Rockets never switched unis. I cant even remember rookie year Yao wearing that piece of crap, maybe cuz my mind is fighting that imagery from even appearing in my head... On topic, I dont think Manu Ginobili's comment that we've only seen 50% of Scola is true, cuz if so... Scola has been very good. Best all around PF for the Rox since Barkley. Very crafty getting off a shot. His offense goes TOWARD the basket, no backward movement in his game at all except when he's flopping. Hopefully he improves his FT % and Chuck improves his offense cuz we cant rely on Landry boosting the team making 75% of his shots much longer...
