so basically this thread is based on no evidence at all? i see. <a href="http://photobucket.com/images/in%20before%20the%20lock%20gif" target="_blank"><img src="http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm111/rollo_tomassi7/ibtl.gif" border="0" alt="In Before the Lock! Pictures, Images and Photos"/></a>
He won't get that kind of offer, though. In general, the contracts offered in Europe for the top players don't approach what they make here.
Here's some more Kill_Bill_Pana gold from Spurstalk (some of the avatars/sigs are NSFW): http://spurstalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=158853 Apparently the Rockets have been giving some magical pills to their players that ruined V. Span's career and "aged him 5-10 years and he can only play to age 30 or 31 before his muscle will deteriorate."
wow. and i thought people here with long signatures were annoying. You have to scroll on some of theirs
The only person that would have an interest in making anyone believe in the possibility of this happening is Scola's agent (to entice the Rockets to make an offer outright instead of waiting for something to match).
Rockets will presumably extend an offer to Scola by tomorrow: http://www.ole.com.ar/basquet/dia_0_297570301.html
The article says that the offer is expected on Wednesday (today), which someone had posted. Maybe they did make an offer and it is just not public and he and his agent are reviewing it. Personally, I think it is more likely that they will use the same strategy as with Lowry and will let the outside market determine his market value.
Can the Rockets make Scola another offer since they already made the qualifying offer? I thought all they can do is wait for another NBA team to sign Scola and then match it. Anyway, Scola already left bigger contracts to come to the NBA and compete against the best in the world. I seriously doubt he'd be going back to Europe now just for a few million more.
yeah i didnt get that part of it either, since i though he hd alreayd received a qulifiying offer and the rockets were waiting...perhaps they've been talking directly with scola since and have agreed to an amount both sides are happy with? I guess it's possible scola has commited and will refuse to sign anyone else's offer sheet?
It is possible that he has not received any offer sheets - Now that the Nets have proof that the Rockets are not bluffing in respect to matching any offer I imagine their resources are focused elsewhere. Now Scola's agent is using European offers in order to get a fair deal from the Rockets. I expect that the Rockets offer will be decent but not extravagant and that Luis will be good to roll.
