If Scola gets 13 points tonight he is at 10ppg for the year....basically he needs to average 11 ppg over the last 4. COME ON LUIS !!! DD
Luis only needs to average 8ppg in the last 3.......to finish at 10ppg..... Man, are we lucky to have him. DD
It's a shame he won't get the ROY. The fact that he's on a winning Western conference team and has to go head to head with some of the best PFs in the legue should be taken into account. He shoots at 50% clip and he didn't even start until halfway thru the season. His PER and Landry's are ridiculous!!
I am OK with that actually. It's hard to imagine giving ROY to a verteran played from many years in another major league. But, man, are we lucky to have him!
I think this whole argument about him being 27 are blown out of proportions. People say he came in from Europe. He played there and got paid. He's a bit older. Luis was supposed to excel. Come on!!! How many player come to the NBA from Europe pro leagues to just go back running to Europe with their tails between their legs. It's a lot. Spanoulis anyone? And countless others. The speed and amount of the games played take their toll. In Europe I think they play 1 or 2 games per week - someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I remember reading one time. People were quick to point out that Scola would be a failure when he didn't catch up to the speed of the game within the first couple of NBA months. Scola comes in with Energy, with craftiness, with ability!!!! And that he was 27 should not be the difference. Durant is going to win the ROY. But Scola has been the most valuable rookie this NBA season. He has helped a Rockets team solidify it's weakest position since the days of Charles Barkley. And the Rockets are winning - which is huge!!!
It seems Scola will average 10pts and 6rbs this season. That is very impressive for a rookie who only plays about 24 min per game! Hopefully, Scola can average 15 pts and 8 rbs next season!
Scola did strugle some in the early going, especially with the fouls. He has consistantly improved his game through out this season and should be even better next year. I have noticed that he doesn't get much respect from the NBA officials, as he has been on the raw end of many questionable calls. Once Scola improves his mid range jumpshot, he will have an easier path driving to the basket. Scola can be a force in the post and it looks like the Rockets are starting to get him more touches down low. His hustle and energy has been very beneficial & contagious for this Rockets team
As bad as Seattle is, they would be much worse without Durant. Scola is the best rookie on a good team and probably the second or third best overall.
I thought Durant was playing much better basketball in the second half of the season. Good shot selection and good field goal percentage. This kid surely can play. As for Scola, he'll be our starting PF for the next year.
Congratulations Luis for locking up the 10ppg average.....the silver lining in last nights game was Luis getting 22 and 13..... Thus Luis is guaranteed to average 10ppg for the year.... Way to go..."PASSION ASSASSIN" DD
Plus I think we got a taste of what he'll be bringing in the playoffs, let's hope everyone else remembers to help him a tad.
Luis seemed like the only person going all-out last night during the Jazz game. I love this guy. He's a proven star and champion, exactly what we needed. I can't wait for a full season with him getting more touches. He really is the best rookie this year, and everyone knows it. He won't get the ROY award because of that BS stigma that he was a 'pro' in Europe, even though by NBA standards and ranks, he's a rookie. Anyway, thank you, Spurs!
You wonder if Luis looks at Tmac and just shakes his head? I mean Yao and Luis are both massive competitors, but Tmac seems to not have that burning desire to win at all costs....it has to drive them nuts. The best player coasting and giving up at times.....just ridiculous. DD
