Oh, they're always eligible. Scola is eligible this year. But if he gets it, it will be a miracle. And if he doesn't get it, it will be because some of the voters refused to accept him as being a true rookie since he is 27 years old and has played professional basketball for several years.

    I disagree.

If Scola doesn't win ROY, it will be because Durant and Horford were starters since day one and have more impressive stats.

Having said that, I would give my vote to Horford. He's been a consistent force on a decent team while playing over 30 mpg and averaging nearly a double double.

Durant was just chucking up shots for two-thrids of this season. He's played better recently (better shot selection and less shots) but it's too late and he hasn't made his team better. He basically just scored a lot of points by putting up a lot of bad shots.

Scola has been instrumental to our success but I am guessing that his lesser stats, including minutes played, will sway the voters in another direction. I don't think it will have anything to do with his age or experience overseas.

I wish it didn't work this way but they always look at stats, its like a mimimum qualification to the voters. Stoudemire had very impressive stats that year, also.

Scola deserves ROY but i would be surprised if he won hit, generally you have to be in the highest ppg stratosphere and he's not even close.

I'm not sure what you're getting at...

but yes their stats were close and they gave it to Amare, Yao had a really good chance of winning it and he didn't probably because Amare's team went to the playoffs. Being close gets the attention of the voters.

Scola's ppg are not even close to Durant's that's why I would be surprised if he won it.

Now he only needs to average 11 ppg and 10 rpg over the last 9 games to end with a 10 ppg and 6,5 for the season.

Good news about his FT shooting is that he nailed 10 of 12, i think he will improve all of his marks in the PO. Still bealieving the rockets will go as far as they can make scola work in the PO, If TMac is Smart he will realise that the most important thing for the team is to develop Scola into a fearsome post pressense in order to have a shot in the PO.

we wont go anywhere with tmac taking 22 shots per game.

He was calling you out for bringing up Stoudemire as a comparison for some one who had very impressive stats in regards to Scola, when Stoudemire had like 3-4 pts more. I would have brought up Lebron. Now those are some impressive stats compared to Scola.

I know the Clippers suck, but Al Thornton might be ranked above Scola for ROY. His stats are incredible. He's had a couple of 30+ point games too.

Rookie of the year honors is overrated. If Scola wins, great. If not, who cares. All Scola wants to do is get several rings like his buddy Ginobli, aka Balky of Perfect strangers.

Just wanted to point out that when I posted this...Luis needed to get his average up, and wallah, the guy did it in a couple of games...he is ALREADY at 10ppg, and tonight he could only score 9 and still be at 10ppg...

So, he has a small cushion.

    GO GO LUIS !!!

He'll hit 20 unless he gets into foul trouble or gets hurt.

    3 reasaons why he can't

    1. Fouls too much to stay in the game
    2. Out of control all day everyday
    3. Get's torched on D by any decent power forward

The more u watch Scola plays, the more u know Scola is a 20-25 minutes guy who gives u 10/6 with scrappy hustles.

But Scola really needs to improve his defense. His countryman Fabricio Oberto is a better defender than him (with similiar athleticism). I am not even talking about 1-1 defense. Just box out and get the freaking defensive board please.

If he can drop 20 on dwight howard I think he is more than scrappy hustle player. He just needs to not commit stupid fouls, and have a little confidence on offense.

Yeah, too many times i have seen him with the open 16 footer because of guard penetration and hesitate and give the defense a chance to recover. Just shoot it as Adelman said.

16 points tonight an no minutes in the 4th quarter....all he needs to do is get 10 ppg and 6 more points along the way.

So average 11.2...and he is good.
