Griffin can make EVERY throw. The gimmick offense rationale is BS. I would rather see RG III in a Texans uni over Luck. I didn't have this same feeling about VY coming into the NFL.
No it isn't The bust potential with drafting QB's is massive. So could david carr. And he threw for more yards and TD's.
There's too much film out there to say otherwise. He's doesn't seem to struggle with his throwing motion or have arm strength problems, like some QBs.
Against the WAC. And in their final years, it was a six-yard difference in passing (4299 to 4293) and a five-td difference (42 to 37). The Heisman Trophy winner had a higher average and way higher completion percentage as well. This, of course, is ignoring the difference between the two on the ground.
David Carr had two strikes against him. 1. He wasn't a hard worker, at least as far as football was concerned. 2. The Texans' offensive line couldn't protect him, and it ruined his confidence. It seems that RG3 is a very hard worker, and if the Colts were to draft him, they have a good, if aging, offensive line that wouldn't have him on his back all the time.
I love RG3 and think he can become one hell of a player, but the fact of the matter is that there is simple less risk with Luck. People talk about RG3's work ethic and smarts...Luck has that too You want to point to RG3 40 time? 1) that shouldn't mean anything for him because he doesn't need to be running that much, he isnt big enough to take the pounding and 2) Andrew luck is no statue either, he runs a more than respectable 40 AND has the size to take hits. You want to look at the systems they have ran, well Luck ran a pro style offense while RG3 did not. None of that is meant to discredit RG3's potential and skills, but they are facts nonetheless. From a completely objective standpoint, you take Luck. Period. Whether that's right in 10 years from now, we will see
I meant in regards to RG III. If you saw him play, you know that dude was throwing bombs with pinpoint accuracy all season long.
It's not all about pure physical skills. Intangibles make a huge difference at the franchise QB level. Being able to read a defense and go through progressions are huge factors on early and ultimate success. There's simply more tape on Luck. It's like the difference between Kendall Wright and Stephen Hill. Hill by all accounts is a better athlete; he's faster, taller, etc.. But I think most everyone would prefer Kendall Wright because he has produced and he's pretty solid in measureables too.
But it's not like this at all. RG III won a Heisman and a O'Brien Award. The same awards that Cam won last season. Kubiak has mentioned that Griffin was asked to do a whole lot in Briles' system and handled the responsibilities remarkably well.
It wasn't a perfect analogy but it was valid. And its funny you mention Cam, because Luck would have been #1 overall over Cam last year too.
You can't say it would've been a mistake until, hmmm you know, Andrew Luck plays a down in the NFL and does worse than Cam, amirite?
^That wasn't my point. He brought up Hill who didn't produce much in college but has all the physical tools. RG 3 produced in college while collecting some nice hardware at the same time.
Not that I respect Merril Hoge a lot but he thinks RGIII is a better passer. http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=espn:7717197
I think RG3 is the real deal. If he goes to Washington, then Eagles vs Redskins = marquee matchup with Vick vs RG3. I can't wait
I know RG3 is the real deal. I've said it all season. RG3 has all the physical tools to be top 5 quarterback in the NFL. The only question is if he can make decisions at NFL speed. The only thing Luck is better at is being tall and being white.
