I know he is on a substantial decline, but this guy's visor alone struck fear in the hearts of opposing teams. I'd love to bring him in and see what he can do on a new squad without the pressure of San Diego. http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/...ts/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
This has Ahman Green written all over it but darn it would be pretty sweat to have LT as your RB... ultimately, unless you upgrade your O-Line to be one of the best in the game LT won't be that much of an upgrade as his age and trend. NO
Well Barry left the game while he was still a good back ( I think the year before he retired he finished with 1200+ yds rushing). I don't think LT came close to that this past season. Plus, Barry left the Lions because he lost his competitive spirit, not necessarily because of declining ability.
When I say pull a Barry, I mean "retire early/unexpectedly", not "retire while being the best in the game because you lost your competitive spirit".
Honestly, I would rather give Arian Foster a shot at being the feature running back instead of signing LT. This just has Ahman Green written all over it.
You are probably right, the Barry Sanders route would be best for him...I just don't see him doing that
Barry rushed for 1491 the year before he retired...the guy was still a bad ass. LT is on his way down, hard.
I don't see him doing it either. I see him signing onto a contender with good management for not a whole lot of money. I wonder who though... not like a lot of teams are lining up to sign a 30+ year old RB. Eagles, Patriots, Saints, Cowboys...?
Most likely, this will be his destination. The Saints can only re-sign one back (Bell/Thomas) especially with huge contract they're planning to give Brees. Also, Brees and LT were like best friends when they played in SD together. The Cowboys are the 2nd most likely. Tashard Choice is walking and Dallas is LT's home town. LT will never play for Bill Belecheck. The Eagles will look to build around Lesean McCoy.
Also, the Saints are rumored to be letting Bush go this offseason... so that would open a huge door for LT to play another 2-3 years while the Saints look for new blood in the draft.
It's hard to have a running game when you've had 9 different starters on the o-line throughout the season. I'm not saying LT hasn't lost a step because he clearly has... but Barry Sanders couldn't run with the o-line we have right now. Plus the Jets defense wasn't too shabby this season. Also I put x3 because Kaeding also choked in 2004 and 2006 .. LT happen to run for 203 yards and 2 tds in those two games.
Barry ran behind some of the worst O-line's in football and still dominated. I wouldn't touch LT right now and I think he's completely washed up. He only averaged 3.3 YPC last season.
I'm glad you're happy moes. ****, I would be too since LT doesn't have to tear your D a new ******* every time you play the chargers! Here some good memories..
