hahahaha! I say think the whole squad really connected and really were on the same page on their goal last season. The general feeling being a fan was that they really believed they had a very good chance to go all the way. I think it was more than just wishful thinking too. As much as Mike James made bad decisions, he's done so much as well...i really like his swagger, when I usually hate that sort of thing.
yeah. I liked Mike James up until that last game of the playoffs. He started driving to the hole several times in a row only to be swarmed on defense. Lost the ball like three times in a row. Granted the series and the game were over by that point. It showed why he wasn't starting on the team though. Too much a shooter and not enough of a play maker for his team. That's fine off of the bench and I certainly wouldn't mind having him back for another season (or more). He can indeed shoot and he can play some defense. If he could pass and play smart he would be dangerous. Last year was good fun though. Watching those guys lay it on the line night after night was a blast. I can't wait for this season to start. If we have Deke and Barry we will still have that attitude rubbing off on the rest of the team. I really hope those two guys are back. I don't know what it is with the Barry genes but they just can't do things the normal way. whether it's pops hitting free throws granny style or Jon throwing some crazy cross court behind the back pass that somehow ends up right on the money...
I gotta' say too, that our starting line up is still shy of where it needs to be. we have the center, sf, pf slots filled now. With good back up off the bench at almost every position. We still need a starting point guard and we have any number of guys who can fill in at the two and back up point. if we trade someone(s) to nab us a true starting point guard we'll be in the ballgame. Sura, Wesley, Barry, James... none of those are starters at the point. Last year we had to give up a lot to get T-mac. we had three guys starting on our team that probably wouldn't have started for any other team in the NBA. Still managed to have a hell of a season. We've filled one of those spots with someone who should be able to start and grow with our allstars. Still have two holes to fill (one of which can be filled with role players). The point, though, is still our weak spot. We have to get someone who can be the floor general. None of the guys we currently have are going to be able to do that to the level that we need. It might take another season to fill those spots, but if we can unload a player or two or three and get a real point guard we are a legit contender for a championship this season.
