Whenever I see the term “gimmicky small ball BS”, I get so disappointed in our fanbase.

    Never forget.

Franchises were built on the backs of PEOPLE.

Rockets have had some AMAZING players in it's history and I for one will never forget them or take them for granted.

Well, honestly, I hate small ball - it has never won, and never will win.

My biggest disappointment in Morey's thinking - and I firmly disagree with this, was that height is overrated, I firmly believe HEIGHT matters a lot.

And going SHRIMPY last year was super dissappointing.

Right on. Time for a change. Morey was great in talent acquisition but I think his offensive philosophy was a failure.

Also, sort of unrelated, but I remember a time on here when some would complain about LOFs. Are there now HOFs (Harden-only-fans)? And yes, definitely, Rockets organization over any ONE player.

Hakeem Olajuwon is synonymous with the Houston Rockets and he wanted out too at one time.

Even AFTER Rockets did it wrong and sent Dream to Toronto, Olajuwon is still revered.

    And rightfully so.

Same as ALL of Houston Rockets Legacy of Greats.

BUT, getting fired up again because you liked what you saw, preseason or not....that's all good, man!

Gawd, you can ne so F'ing stupid sometimes.

Your demagoguery is annoying but you just spout complete nonsense it is downright inane.

    You really should know better.

GSW won their championships on the back of their Hampton 5. The epitome of small ball.

    That is THREE championships.

Sorry but you don't have to go to the Sloan Sports analytics conference to realize that's not what the Rockets were doing.

Shooting and the ability to switch on defense was critical to their squads, which is why PJ Tucker is here and Ryan Anderson is not, and was higher on the priority list than height, and also critically way easier to find than tall men who can do those things unless you think Anthony Davis is sitting on his couch waiting for Lt. Savings to sound the Htown bugle call dangling Tillman's vet minimums

Some of you guys act like the Rockets were intentionally getting rid of taller bros, couldn't be further than the truth. Selecting for shooting and defense was the right thing to do, especially with having to put up with Russ inability to do either- ask the lakers after they locked Dwight and Javale in the closet of epcot centre in favor of Rajon freaking Rondo

I get that Sam, but the difference is the Rockets tried to do that with 6'5" guys instead of say 6'9" ones....there is a big difference IMHO.

I think we got enamored with the PJ Tuckers and how he is unique, but not every 6'5" guy has the backside to root out taller players....in fact most don't.....

The Lakers went with the switch everything philosophy which I do agree can work in stretches, but they had much taller players doing it......

    Big difference.

Morey even said he thought height was overrated, and there were guys overlooked because of their small stature....I think that is true in individual cases, but not so much as a philosophy.....Barkley as an example....but how many 6'6" guys can do what he did?

    Not many.

Rockets STILL have too many 6'5 players on roster.

Only THREE players taller than 6'7 and only ONE of those players is a starter.

    Same as last season.

    Hypocrite much?

I don’t remember anyone in our organization ever saying “height is overrated”. The only people I can remember attributing that nonsense to our strategic approach were characters like Max Kellerman, or other fanbases that do not pay attention.

I do remember Morey saying that they would rather have a shorter player that could actually play than a tall scrub. That is a very different statement. It isn’t small ball, it’s skill ball. If Hakeem walks through that door, or hell even Christian Wood, we aren’t playing so called “small ball”.

It is no easy feat to use the tiny amount of cap available to get a quality big. Certainly, PJ Tucker is a better option than nearly all of those guys, on both ends.

In short, scrubby height gets demolished by shorter talent 10/10 times. As we saw with Draymond and Clint over and over again.
