Ok, what about years after that. You will have 2 guys that demand the ball in the post. It's not going to work, remember shaq and stoudemire.
It worked with Dream and OT, it worked with McHale and Parish, it worked with Bynum and Gasol.... Two big guys in the post can work, they just need to be highly skilled players. DD
Yao and Bosh would only be on the court together for parts of the game. The difference with the Phoenix comparison is that Shaq is useless outside of 5 feet, if Bosh has a matchup advantage Yao can step out and hit a 15 footer the same with Bosh.
Yes,but Bosh can. I think he can fit in with him even if it's not an ideal situation. We will still need a athletic defensive minded center even if Bosh joins Yao. I wouldn't sell half of the team to get him. Just wanted to point that out.
Yes Bima that probably equals .04, but your .04 equals $1.00 in today's market when you speak of the cap
Sure he can, he's not Larry Bird, but he's more than good enough to drag opposing center's away from the paint on occasion. It's a skill he hasn't used much because he's been glued to the paint his whole career.
Actually, both Gasol and Hakeem seemed to work better offensively when Bynum/OT were not around. Barkley and Hakeem sharing the blocks wasn't optimal. Did not watch McHale/Parish to comment on them. But I think there is something to be said about two low post players working together. That said, I think it's a non-issue with Bosh/Yao because Bosh is a perimeter big. If anything, I would be curious to see if Bosh can play the high post in Adelman's offense.
I'm not saying two big guys can't work, but 2 bigs that demand the ball you're going to have problems. This is the main reason why Bosh or Stoudamire will not come here. To much of an ego issue here.
The only player worth throwing a bunch of money at in 2011 is Carmelo Anthony if he opts out. Cutting salary to go after him is putting all your eggs in one basket, a la the Knicks, and we don't really need to do that.
Personally, Im not a huge Chris Bosh fan, he's definetly got a great game. But I would rather see an enforcer type 4/5 next to Yao than a soft 4 added in with Martin and Brooks. In the end everything will still hinge on Yao's health.
my guess is we will match lowry, but it would be difficult for scola coz I believe he will have big contract signed.
Unless somebody offers Scola a titanic contract (11 mill x 5yrs) the rockets will match, he's too valuable an asset to lose for nothing, losing him would set the franchise back.
Keeping those two guys should be the top priority this offseason. Signing the big time freeagent superstar is a pipe dream and should be second only to signing these two guys back on.
