Not true, Parsons can defend multiple positions, SF, SG, and PG.

McHale has used Parsons to defend many positions, and also game end positions. This tells you Parsons is very flexible in defending.

just because he's used in situations doesnt make him a good defender..

when has he been a plus defender since his rookie year?

He can defend all three of the positions you listed poorly, yes.

Oh yes he can defend every one of those positions you listed and those players would get career highs.

This is actually a great sign of the market & how the Rockets could capitalize.

If he's asking 10 to 12 mil a year, than that probably means his market is probably closer to the 7 to 10 range. That's good news if the Rockets want to make a play for him and another good player.

    You could try and....

    1. move Asik into someone's cap space on draft night (maybe even get an asset back to flip as well)
    2. Offer Lowry the remaining cap space the Rockets have ( think your looking at 8 to 10 mil a year)
    3. Use Lin's contract + assets to go get someone like Millsap/Horford/Ryan Anderson etc. (should be able to take back up to 12.5 million in salary with just Lin's contract)

and you still have the financial flexibility to re-sign Parsons if the price is right.

Someone will pay him that amount... A fair number for the Rockets to acquire him would be btwn 9.7 to 10.3 million per year. In all fairness, if the Rockets managed to get Lowry for about 10 million and was able to swap Milsap for Asik I would be very happy. Moving Lin would be key...

Yep. Also that's why it might be nice to get a key asset for Asik first like a future first rounder to sweeten the offer for Lin later on to get that PF like a Millsap or Ryan Anderson. If Lin is your centerpiece contract, you probably need to blow them away with draft assets to get a guy of that caliber.

Lowry is a smart guy and he tried to amend his relationship with Mchale via PR but I doubt he wants to play for Mchale. To Lowry and anyone else that know Mchale his coaching abilities are what they are.

Have you seen the defense Harden plays? Zach Lowe of Grantland.com calls it "dog crap" and that's basically unbiased objective description. cyberx talked about how Harden's D is a joke among NBA players.

Parsons is not even close to that. Nobody on the team is. It's a difficult standard to reach.

In Parsons case, the guy averages the longest distance traveled from end to end in the entire league. I think with Harden on the court guys like Lin and Parsons are forced to help cover Harden's man as well as their own even in a zone defense. You can thank McFail for allowing this to happen.

Parsons is a dynamic three and if given the proper usage with a good teammates and coaching will be consistently able to handle the bar and score in traffic. In the PlayOffs and most of the season, it was Parsons that scored the most at the rim from driving and cutting. Dude is 6'9 and can handle the ball when spacing is right on the floor. To the people that hate on this man they don't understand the other analytics involved that lead to fatigue and nagging injuries. Get him a better coach if want that 3rd star.

Yeah Harden is absolutely worse than Parsons on defense, but that doesn't mean anything as Harden is worse than just about every player at defense. That doesn't mean Parsons isn't particularly weak himself.

No kidding. I'm sure that, by the end of the first week he's in LA, he'll already clash with Kobe about something.
