Not even close. Rondo has three HOF players to pass to and Lowry has Martin and Scole. Put Lowry on the Celtics and they would run away with the East.
If Houston has a chance at Rajon Rondo, then giving up Lowery is a no brainer. Rondo will entice other players to Houston, Lowery not so much. But a one for one will never happen, no matter how much Lowery has improved last season and this one. And if the Rockets are going to make a trade, might as well make it big. Celtics want to get younger and need players (or picks) to build around. Rockets need to get better talent, add a superstar or two. Rondo and KG, for Lowery, Scola, Dalembert, Flynn, Thabeet and Mo Morris. KG is a one year deal. Houston could either re-sign or use the cap space to lure another big FA, or a couple of very good FAs instead. http://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/6051175
It's close one, but I have to as I did at the first of the year and career wise choose Rondo. Rondo's Achilles heel is shooting, while I would say with Lowry . . . it's a efficiency and consistency. Rondo is one of the better playmakers in the league, outside of the elites (like Nash, Lebron, Paul, Ellis, Kobe, or etc.). What kills Rondo is his sometimes limited offense, but he seems to have little bit more edge to his game than Lowry? I wouldn't necessarily call Lowry a great or even a really good shooter, especially mid-range. He's ok to modestly above average, but nothing special. His percentages could be higher, in fact he's never had a season where he shot better than 44%. That's where efficiency is displaced. Though, his FT shooting and 3 point percentages are miles better than Rondo. Defensively, both are very good, though Rondo is a couple inches better. Passing, Rondo has amongst best court-vision in the league and is arguably the best passing point guard, outside of Steve Nash, Deron Williams, and Chris Paul. Lowry is not bad, but I wouldn't put him in that category. Rebounding = Lowry
If that were the case, Boston would keep him instead of trying to trade him. Ainge has already said that the Celtics won't be rebuilding around Rondo.
Those aren't playing like Hall of Famers anymore. Ray, Paul, and Kevin are average most nights. Rondo is their best player.
13 of Rondo's 17 triple-double games have come on national TV. The guy plays big in big games. I'm not sure you can say that about Lowry.
No, the Big Three in Boston ain't what they used to be but they are still way better than Martin, Scola and whoever we had on the floor. This is not homerism clouding my better judgement. I honestly don't think Rondo could do much more than Lowry.
i think rondo is a whole tier above lowry, no offense to him. If you watched rondo in the playoffs he has really elevated his game.
Except in the 2010 finals when Kobe left him wide open from the perimeter and dared him to shoot. Rondo's inability to shoot jumpers cost the Celtics a championship.
You are not delusional, Ray Allen at 34 is still better overall than 29 yr old Martin outside of pure scoring. KG is better defensively and talented than Scola and does not give up much on O. Don't need much to say about Pierce. They are way better...... Kyle is the only one close to Rondo because of shooting and rebounding.
So everything about the Celtics is better than the Rockets, yet the Rockets have a better record in a harder conference?
