No one hates him, they just want what is best for the Rockets - he got Wally Pipped by a better player, it happens. Now, we still want what is best for the Rockets and that is for Morey to trade him for a higher draft pick. It is always what is best for the team, not the individual player, not hate, it is love ! DD
I saw Lowry pouting to Keith Jones during the timeout I mentioned in the OP. I guess his teammates are tired of hearing it. At least Keith finally can put his arm around somebody that actually wants it.
Lowry is an intense person and has a temper, his competitiveness and fire is part of what has made him a very good player. No one should be surprised Lowry wears his emotions on his sleeve, this is the same guy that threw basketballs at a female referee during a charity game. I seriously doubt he hates McHale, he just really wants to win and play well. I am sure McHale understands, as he would on occasion mix it up as a player. Having said that, I don't think Lowry is going to want to come off the bench after doing well as a starter. We know Dragic wants to start, he said so. Thus I have to think if they resign Dragic that Lowry will be dealt.
Toughness is good, fire is good, properly directed. Conflict with the coach, not so much. Maybe if you are Michael Jordan it works, you pretty much end up with a say in who the coach is anyways. If the rest of the team can play for McHale, there is no reason Lowry should not get with the program. These guys are professional ballplayers, many playing under contracts that will earn them more in a handful of years than most of us will earn in a lifetime. Sometimes a little emotion can help a team, but it seems a little too coincidental that Lowry comes back, we have conflict and go from playing well to losing four straight at the absolute worst possible time. Maybe it is all a coincidence, maybe the team would have cratered anyways. In a way I hope that is the case, because I liked Lowry from day one. But bottom line, it is still a team sport. Sometimes it sucks being old school.
At one point of time, we were struggling without PGs (Post Bob Sura - the Rafer era). Now, for the past couple of years, we have mediocre-to-good-to-even-star level PGs, but none of them seem to sustain form.
Ironically I like Lowry being an emotional player but why doesn't he use it on the court?? Complain to the refs about the calls, not to your trainer / coach!
He does both, and he throws balls at them to get his point across.... If you have been paying attention he has been trending towards the entitled player disposition for a while now. DD
He should only do one and I didn't see him nor any player get in the refs face in anger. Just a little whining but that's what everybody does.
All hail Goran Dragic! The dude won player of the week, nuff said! Lowry can hit the brooks, i mean bricks just like Brooks!
Lowry just made a somewhat difficult decision easy. Get what you can for Lowry and sign Dragic. Lowry just sealed the deal. Personally I am glad because I wasn't sure what Morey would do. Afterall he traded Dragic once and tried multiple other times. But you can bet McHale is in the Dragic camp. And it just makes the most sense to trade Lowry The sooner the better. Nothing personal but the easiest way to sign Dragic is to trade Lowry and Lowry is the one asset perhaps combined with a draft pick that can either move us up or get us a star.
You mean the petulant baby scale pioneered by Vasillis Spanoulis and Aaron Brooks? Does that mean you'll actually stop hating on him when he gets there and start kissing his arse?
People seem to be forgetting how good Lowry is. He is a borderline all star that is the most complete point guard the Rockets have had in a long time. For all we know Portland or Dallas or Phoenix will offer more to Goran than Morey is comfortable matching, or perhaps Goran just decides to move on. Ideally we move Lowry for a player like Gasol or a top 7 pick in the draft and resign Goran at a reasonable contract...... more likely? Someone is desperate and offer Goran a 5/45 contract and the Rockets wish Goran the best of luck.
Let's see. We keep getting young point guards who are about to enter their prime and ride them as they play well, but then get rid of them as soon something goes wrong instead of really giving them a second chance. That combined the Rockets training staff, which I can say is nothing sort of suspect, and there is the reason for none of them sustaining form.
Come on ppl it is only sport we're talking about. As i understand the general opinion is Lowry should start, so Mchail should let him start. And for the Dragic i hope he lives Houston and go somewhere else where his effort and talent will be appreciated. For you Rockets fans - those empty seats in the arena says it all.
Lowry has always been great for the Rockets and he’s never had attitude issues before. If he has beef with our dumb coach then I believe it’s legitimate. Morey won’t trade Lowry just because of McHale; he will choose the point guard he feels is best for the Rockets going forward. I think Les will try to fire McHale if lose tonight anyway. He tried to fire Adelman when the Rockets lost their first five games last year...but this five game losing streak is even worse when the playoffs were basically in our pocket. Soo much playoffs revenue just slipping out of Les’ hand, you know he is livid...
