Yes Lowry and Smith are statistically the two worst shooting PGs in the West but Kyle is the best rebounding PG and Ish is top 10 in assist ratio. Once you realize that the rockets have one of the best scorers in the NBA, two of the better offensive big men in the NBA and Kyle is backing up a bigtime scoring PG, you realize that he doesn't have to be able to shoot to be effective.
Not by much, that team played very differently than they do now. We know AB and Yao can play well together, it's more about the other players now. Martin and Scola have taken over the scoring role so this makes it a little more difficult for Aaron because scoring is his strength and they are asking him to be more of a facilitator/distributor.
Not sure who came up with it, but I'm sure Morey looks at some version of it. I think it's useful, but adjusted +/- is much more useful. Side note: that's not what I was referring to when I said Lowry was a "plus" player for us. I just meant he helps us win. If I had meant +/- in my original post, I would have said that. In any case, this year's sample size is too small, and last year Lowry's "Roland Rating" (another version of +/-)was +2.5 last year, 2nd on the Rockets.
He looks hideous right now, but I'm willing to give him half a pass because of the ankle. If you can't get your natural lift, you're not hitting jumpers. He does look really out of shape and heavy. I'm not sure how accurate those summer reports were about him working hard.
So, if we're going to go by the "Morey and Adelman think AB is the best because he starts" bit, then how do you explain the trade of Rafer? Was Rafer the best option for the Rockets to start at PG right up until they traded Rafer? Remember, Rafer was the starting point guard for us up until the day he was traded. You have to understand the magic of Morey. It's all about increasing trade value and maximizing return.
it's been pretty consistent 2 to 1 against lowry being able to hit the broadside of a barn. oddly enough, that is his 2 pt fg%. so it has been decided by cf.net...Kyle Lowry CANNOT hit the broadside of a barn unless he is charging out of control into it.
Everyone sure turns on players quickly. Last year he got hurt, thats when our playoff chances went out the window. With Brooks out they have won 2 games in a row. They looked great when they lost 5 games to start the season? They are playing better defense now that hes playing. I say trade Brooks keep Lowry.
just having some fun with how spectacularly bad he has been from the field since 2009. i do feel like the team is better with him out there hustling and playing good defense, but man he cannot shoot a basketball very well. i'd really like to see him completely eliminate the 3 point shot from his game like tony parker did.
