I'm old enough to remember the "values clarification" wars of the 1980s

 

Ever see History of the World Part 1? That **** cracks me up

 

its ironic that the people who do the poorest job of actually following the teachings of jesus are the ones most in favor of having the 10 commandments in classrooms.

 

I don't know, not really. But I do have two young children enrolled in a private school that is based on religion. I am not religious at all but they do so much better at this school so I don't mind the cost.

 

Like these?:

• Sex Education: Abstinence-only vs. comprehensive sex education?
• Civic Education: Should darker chapters like slavery and segregation be taught?
• Science Education: Creationism or intelligent design vs. evolution?
• Literature and History Education: Multicultural literature vs. Eurocentric or traditional literature?
• Basic Values: Secular humanism vs. traditional religious moral values?

Do we want to revisit these old contentious debates and reignite these educational wars?
