Lou did a great job against OKC also cause he was probably not guarded most of times (Westbrick, Christon, Abrines "guarded" him?), but then it was playoff Lou again...i just don't think he's a playoff player in the end, i always found him pretty similar to Jamaal Crawford, he's small, weak, slow (Jamaal was pretty fast few years ago though), non factor on D, and he just doesn't have a good shot selection, most of times he takes bad shots regardless of the moment of the game...all these things are passable in the regular season, but in the playoffs, especially against great teams not soo much.

Now he's also going to expire, personally i don't like the idea to resign him (especially cause i expect him to ask something in the range of 10/15 per year), we already have a good core of guards, Pat, James and Eric are good, i trust Morey to find a decent/good enough 4th guard for cheap, wether it's a rookie, an Euro guy or veteran like Nene, i don't think it's really worth it to pay Lou at this point...again, having Llull at 8x3 or 4 would be great, but eh...i'm basically resigned to the idea that he's not coming.

I don't think he expires until after next season ... But I could be wrong . If he expires I definitely wouldn't resign him .

Next season (2017-2018 i mean) is the last on his current contract. I would be shocked if we could get a 1st back somehow...i expect nothing more than a 2nd if we trade him -> which would still be ok all things considered (Brewer contract dumped, good help in the first round)

I'll entertain this conversation if Lou is still on the team to start next season.

My suspicion is that as a desirable asset in the final year of his contract, he'll be part of any trade the Rockets make to add another star (if one is to be had). I highly doubt the Rockets are going to pay Lou the salary he'll command on the open market after 2017-2018. It really only makes sense that he'd be traded to clear cap room or be included in a package to acquire that elusive second star.
