Does this give more playing time for DMo?

Let's not forget where our priorities are here.

John Brewer Bickerstaff was apparently begging the Twolves to pull a trade with us.

Finally Rockets can play with 5 guys offensively at all times

Teams can no longer play us 4 vs 5 by leaving Brew open at the corner 3 which was inevitably like a turnover

    They gonna get killed

Imagine a Harden And Capela (or Nene) Pick n Roll with Rhyno, Lou and EGo waiting at the 3 point line. No way to stop that

Finally, I went through all 21 pages and it's nice to see people happy and not complaining. Lou gives us MORE firepower and insurance for stretch run and match-ups against Warriors, Spurs, Clips and Cavs. Now we need some rebounding and rim protection--do some more magic Morey!

So the question now is do we start Lou? This allows us to move Bev to the bench where he's best suited anyway IMO and since Lou is supremely talented offensively compared to Bev hopefully it allows Harden to focus more attention to defense since he won't have to score and create like he's had to.

Having Ego and Lou both come off the bench is leaving too much firepower on the table. We gotta come out guns blazing and put teams in a deep hole from the start and then put in Bev to lock **** down and not let teams come back.

WOJ reports that Washington offered their first round pick (higher pick) so it seems like Magic really did like Brewer.

Bev is not best suited to come off the bench, he is a perfect fit as a starter alongside Harden.

Brewer's hustle may rub off on Ingram.. Cause it's been proven that coaches will play Brew over a more talented but lackadaisical player

    LOS ANGELES LAKERS
RECEIVE: Corey Brewer, unprotected first-round 2017 draft pick
    SURRENDER: Lou Williams
    GRADE: A
Williams served no purpose for the Lakers. He wasn’t going to be part of their rebuilding plan, and his contract and limitations meant he was never going to fetch significant return. They pick up a veteran making approximately the same money, who will fill up time and play hard, and nab a first-rounder. The pick has little value, but first-round picks should be all the Lakers are pursuing at this point. They didn’t try and parlay Williams into taking on a bigger name for more money, they didn’t give up a second-rounder, they didn’t add a player that needs minutes or a new contract. It’s just about perfect value, and a great start for the Magic-Pelinka regime.

    HOUSTON ROCKETS
    RECEIVE: Lou Williams

SURRENDER: Corey Brewer, unprotected first-round 2017 draft pick

    GRADE: B
For the Rockets, it doesn’t address their biggest need, defense, but it does shore up a weakness. Brewer has been unable to keep up with his deep-bombing teammates under Mike D’Antoni, and opponents would routinely play off him, sending more help at James Harden. With Williams, not only will opponents be unable to do so as Williams is a solid shooter, but the Rockets can survive with Harden on the bench more. When Harden sits, the offensive rating for the Rockets drops to 105, a good mark for some teams but paltry for Houston.

Williams brings the ability to create on his own, as he is in the 94th percentile in pick and roll situations, and 92nd when factoring passes. That number is likely to go up when not surrounded by the dreadful Lakers offense, and Williams has high marks in isolation and spot-up. He basically fits with the Rockets’ offense to a T. The defense, of course, is a concern, but the Rockets’ defense isn’t as bad as you would think (14th in the NBA and 11th since Jan. 1), and they can always just rely on starters in the playoffs.

This deal doesn’t shift the landscape in the Western Conference or help the Rockets match up differently with Golden State. But it addresses a weakness with a strength, and involves only surrendering a pick they don’t need. The Rockets have bolstered their reserves with young players the last few years with Montrezl Harrell, Sam Dekker and Clint Capela. They were not in need of another pick heading to Rio Grande Valley.

My thoughts on this trade are that it effectively allows us to never have a bad player in the rotation, which is a good thing.

In times were Bev / Gordon were injured, either Brewer or Ennis (both bad) were relied upon to fill the gap. With this trade, you have four very competent backcourt players, and 2 competent additional wings, which can cover the rotations if someone is injured. Kudos to Morey on that.

It all but takes us out of free agency this offseason. We might have a little money, but no more than MLE level, that you could use if you operate over the cap. Wouldn't surprise me if we target another player on a two year contract and then look to keep our options open for free agency in the summer of 2018.

Not really what I expected but its nice to look up and down a roster and not see a single scrub player in the rotation.
