Sweet Lou is a great example of an inefficient guard maximizing his talents in the correct role. Got three 6MOYs out of it. I'll take that career over, say, Monta Ellis.

So he's an interesting person to be saying this IMO.

Sengun had the same situation except worse. He doesnt have the physical tools as green, was a later draft pick, didnt have offense run through him, and the coach didnt even want to play him.

Green was given tons of playing time, resources, high usage, all the physical tools he needs.

Yet the other guy ended up surpassing him.

Maybe it's not so much all these external factors and more the makeup of the player himself.

Correct there aren't many players that are given this many chances to prove their worth and blow it time after time after time. Not many Jalen Green's around.

That's a good take from Lou Will, but I don't agree. I'm of the mindset we keep Jalen until something else better comes along. In four years I haven't seen much to make me believe that Jalen Green is a "certified bucket getter." He struggles to drive to the rim and he doesn't have much of a mid-range game. When his 3 point shot is falling, things are good, but when he can't shoot from three, his whole offensive game falls apart.

The Rockets have the luxury of giving Jalen another offseason to see if he can improve, so they shouldn't be actively shopping to sell him low for now, but they should be trying to get another veteran guard, Buddy Hield type player that we can fall back on if Jalen struggles again next year.

Thats the thing, something better has already come along in Amen and if the FO gives jalen another season, which they wont, he wouldnt get a buddy hield type player for help- He is the buddy hield type player.

The Rockets aren't going to dump Green just to dump him - so I think Lou Williams is right about that. It isn't like the Rockets have to move him just to move him. However - the reality is that the Rockets view of the role Green will have and should have has changed, they are not going to be going forward viewing him as a future star in waiting.

At some point the Rockets are going to be very aggressive and attempt to add someone they believe WILL be a franchise type player they can run the offense through, and when that happens - Green will be dealt.

The reality is that Jalen Green in a 7 game series scored...... 7, 38, 8, 9, 11, 12 and 8 points.... that isn't remotely acceptable. His shooting splits were 37/29/66 and he got less than 3 assists a game.

Oh look, another ex-player with idiotic takes.

Makes you truly cherish the few ex-players who actually know what they're talking about.

Valid points. Sengun obviously arrived with something Jalen didn't have (and never developed). But Sengun played 80 games of pro ball over 3 years while Jalen played only 15 between high school and the NBA, so he was definitely less ready for that jump. Jalen may never have developed whatever he needed to be more consistent had he been brought along more slowly, but as a #2 pick on a tanking team, that wasn't a luxury he was given. I'm actually happy that Sheppard wasn't just handed the reins this year, assuming that he gets adequate time to prove himself next season.

Just get good value for Jalen and move on. Build around AlP and Amen. Go find that #1 scoring option and get some shooters. We’ll be aight

Kobe lost twice in the playoffs against Utah before becoming a champion…age 18 and 19. Jalen is 23. Kobe won his third ring at 23.

On April 14, 2010, 21 year old Kevin Durant dropped 31 PTS vs. MEM to become the youngest player in NBA history to win the regular season scoring title!

Silly…we just have to accept Green’s value is at an all-time low, so it would be stupid to just dump him. We have no alternative. But the whole Kobe mentality, which they claimed he had, he just doesn’t have. The man cannot dribble to save his life. If he at least works on that, his strength and his floater game then maybe he can become serviceable or actually unlock something more. But franchise player my ass. I do like how the national media and guys like Lou respect him. That does hold some value in GMs eyes I reckon. And he was definitely solid enough during the regular season. So let’s see.

Just because you're 22-23 doesn't make you an All - Star. Some players get it early and some don't. Look at KD and Westbrook. KD got it early, whereas Westbrook it took him several yrs to develop.

I look at what Jalen has improved at since he's been here; defense, playmaking and decision-making. His main focus this Summer should be getting stronger and working on his shot.

There's a ton of Jalen Green's around. I get why a former 6th man would want to go to bat for a guy who SHOULD be a 6th man.... but Jalen Green just got finished being outplayed by guys like KPJ and Podz in the playoffs.

It's not time to double down on him.
