Do you realize that Toronto has 'fallen' in the draft lottery every year it has been in it since it's existence? Now 4th in a 3 deep draft...Of course the 1st 5 years it was intentional...
Funny that right before the beginning of tonight's game, David Aldridge broke the news that since the Pistons have the #2 pick, thjey would pick Darko Milicic and move Wallace over to the PF position. Got to say it makes sense, but then again its David Aldridge saying it.
Do you think Darko will be able to play the 5? Ive heard the knocks on him are his lack of strength (holding his position) and his lack of "back to the basket" moves (likes to face up). Even in the center weak East, he might have a tough time playing there consistently. I can see him playing 4 (face up) with Wallace at the 5 (although I think Wallace is better off at the 4).
Well............................................maybe we can get him! Lebron with Detroit would be deadly for everyone. Billups Hamilton James Robinson Wallace
Whoever Detroit picks, Darko or Carmelo, they are gonna be good!Carmelo is more proven, so I would pick him. But Darko has a lot of potential. Not an easy choice for them, but they are in the perfect situation.
Well Denver........already has McDyess and Hilario. AND TSKITISVILI. Carmelo or Milivic? That's a tough one. Or maybe even trade down a pick to get TJ Ford instead.
Denver has Camby and Hilario. I see him more as a 3 or a 4. Kinda like Dirk and Pau Gasol!!From what I have read of him, thats what kind of player comes to mind.
detroit worked with darko yesterday. they say they are looking to draft him. and move ben to the 4. he can survive as a 5 in the east....
Lebron made an off handed comment that he wouldn't play for Cleveland after they fired John Lucas. But it was obviously an emotional thing because he basically backed off of that.
Memphis got royally screwed! I like Jerry West so I feel bad for him personally. Thanks to 2 stupid deals on Stu Jackson's part, West now has to pay the price for it. 1. As mentioned, they ended up trading Otis Thorpe for either Carmelo or Darko. 2. They ended up trading Steve Francis for Dickerson,Price,Carr,Harrington,a 2nd(?) rounder from Orlando and, now, the 13th pick. Meanwhile, the Rockets ended up getting Francis for Dickerson,Price,Carr and Harrington. The pick they lose this year(13th) is not lost when you consider they gained a first round pick from Orlando in the Francis trade earlier(which I believe was used to help acquire Griffin). In the final analysis...the Rockets stole Francis for four role players!
Yeah its funny how everyone in the media has forgotten about that statement. It would have even been funnier if Lebron would have restated that when they interviewed him at half time of the game
If I was detriot, I'd go with Darko. Big Ben can hold down the center and powerforward positions while Darko can interchange with him. Rule of thumb, go with teh big men first. However, Carmello wouldn't be a bad choice either. But I think Darko would fit in better in Detriot with their lack of a scoring big man.
Carmello has said he really wants to play in Detroit. He even went to one of their playoff games. But, as David Aldridge has repeatedly said, they're taking Darko. The Pistons love him. Dumars is on record gushing over him and the Pistons have one of the best foreign scouts. They know the big guy well.
Detroit has a tough choice to make, if they take Melo they will likely win the East next and for a few years after, for me Melo will be ROY next year. But if they want the title, maybe not next year but in the near future then Darko is probably the option and 4/5 combination of Darko and Wallace is a great mix. my guess would be Darko and then the pistons could get a scoring SG/SF with their other first round pick. this will leave Denver with Melo, but they need more help than that, they need some free agents and Tskita to play.
so does Toronto take TJ Ford? They need a point. Also, I don't know how I feel about Lebron staying home; I have a feeling his already out of control ego is only oging to be exacerbated in CLe, and he will not be able to get away from the hangers on that he has already accumulated. I have a feeling he may never grow up and bad things may happen to him in his personal life as a result.
When did he say that? Last I heard he said this: "I'm real excited to be a Cleveland Cavalier," James said.
