It's been bad here in DFW as well. Houston has had a surge in cops on the freeways though over the past year. I remember when the Katy Freeway use to be a free for all and the minimum speed was 70. When I visited a couple of weeks ago, the minimum speed was actually 60 and cops were lining the feeders and freeways. They need to go back to patrolling the neighborhood streets instead of getting people passing 18-wheelers at 75 MPH, IMO.
I live in the area and you can count on a state trooper being there between voss and university on any random night. They like to get ticket happy.
as someone who used to live in texas but now I dont ,that's one thing I remember about texas is all the cops everywhere. It seems like the cops in texas like to focus on traffic, and minor stuff while not really focusing on the real crimes. so there is this weird imbalance where you can get away with murder you just better not have a burnt out tail light. Its like law of the low hanging fruit. Govt gets paid for bogus traffic tickets ,and have more roving collectors (cops) out doing the govt tax dirty work. Driving in your car is an excuse to be harassed. Its a shame its come to that. I always have to remind myself of the police state when I start thinking about moving back to texas.
