Michael was disqualified because of what he did to Ana-Lucia and Libby, as well as turning on Jack and the other survivors. So, he's doomed to wander the Island as a warning voice. Mr. Ecko... well, it would be harder to fanwank it but since the actor wanted nothing more to do with Lost, he wasn't coming back for the finale. As for Walt, well remember, this is taken from Jack's point of view. He wouldn't remember Walt as some 6'4" teenager, he'd remember some little kid. Since they obviously couldn't bring his back as that, I guess they just decided to leave him off altogether rather than half-ass some explanation.
Ben's done A LOT worse than Michael. He pretty much made Michael kill Libby, he killed Locke and countless others, yet he is in this purgatory. Not to mention, Michael redeemed himself anyway by delaying that freighter from exploding. Looking back, I would have preferred the flash-sideways being real, rather than just some purgatory.
I think that if they were going for "Jack died in the crash right where we saw him the first time" then they would have put him back in his suit with his old haircut.
like I said Michael deserved what he got and Ben...I think he did awful things but he didn't betray his friends the way Michael did. Sorry...but like Dante's inferno, Traitors reserve the deepest part of hell.
I loved the finale.... trying to find the jimmy kimmel episode online. There were great performances all around... Some of the old cast gave me the chills.... I know I'm going to miss this show. Dedicated all those weeks from the start of this show in 04.... it's gonna be really missed. One of the best shows I've ever watched.

He betrayed everyone multiple times. including the one person he was doing it for JACOB.. He pretty much sacrificed everyone he "loved" to be Head Island Hancho. Your theory is flawed.. I feel like I am in the Twilight Zone...
Maybe in his years as Hurley's #2, Ben was able to fully redeem himself. Michael attempted to redeem himself and while he did to a degree, it may have not been enough to offset his bad deeds.
Did anyone laugh out loud at the idea of the wreckage in the credits was the Ajira flight that Lapidus crashed right after it passed over Jack?
What a cheap copout. They made up the first five seasons as they went along and had no way to coherently tie them together, so they make up a new mystery for season six which they answer with the incredibly "creative" afterlife. Well done, writers.
Man I hope he did some pretty great odd jobs around the cave of wonders.. Maybe rebuilt the statue of Taweret so Hurley could lay his head in comfort. I guess sacrificing your life for multiple someones like Mike did is not enough penance to get you past the gates. S*** can't even get you in the church! Not even an e-vite..

How does Jack get out of the magic fountain? One moment he is laughing like an idiot and dying in the magic light fountain and the next moment he wakes up in the woods in a creek. I wonder what happens to Jack's son. He kind of got abandoned at the concert (mom left and hooked up with Sawyer and Claire had a baby).
I liked how they wrapped it all up. I was expecting to see more people in the church. I think the first clue I got was when Hurley told Ben he was a great number two. Then all the religions in the church got me thinking more. I really am happy with the series overall. They could have messed it up, but IMO they did not. It was happy, but still sad at the same time. Got me thinking about things. I doubt I'll be that involved in a show again.
Jack's son isn't real... Jack imagined him up in purgatory. The only people who are real in that purgatory are the ones who were on the island... that's the island's "gift".
I'm not gonna nitpick him getting out of the fountain. It was a nice completion of the circle. I do wonder about the son though. Did he even exist? When would Jack have had him in reality? I think he may have been created in their purgatory.
