    This Kimmel special is great.

    Alternate endings on Kimmel:

Ending 1: Survivor guy comes and kicks Sayid off the island.

    Ending 2: Sopranos ending

If the life on the island was meant to be taken as definitively, without-a-doubt "real," why would the creators have Jack die in the exact spot where he was thrown from the plane, and in the same situation (Vincent, the hanging tennis shoe). And why choose to end the series by showing images of plane debris on the beach?

I think these two factors indicate that the creators meant to instill some ambiguity about the "reality" of the events that occurred on the island. In fact, I think it's a better and larger story that way (the same way that Beckett ended Endgame with the question of whether Clov leaves or stays and repeats the entire thing tomorrow - the question is the answer).

I'd be curious to know if the position of Jack's body is the same in his death scene as it was in the pilot when he woke up. If so, I think that proves that an ambiguous ending was intended. If not, probably not.

If he was asked he probably would have done it(speculation of course)

Since they were all dead It would make since for Walt and Micheal to be there.. Wouldn't matter if Walt was 6'4" because THEY ARE ALL DEAD!!

seems black males can't get in the club called heaven

Even Ben was there and he was invited in and he committed Genocide!

Sorry I'm angry just finished watching the show after watching the Laker game..

Benjamin killed far more people than Mike for far more selfish reasons

Mike killed those people for his son. I know those who have children would probably do whatever it took to get their son back.. Then Mike came back to make things right and still got turned away from the gates!

Jack's eye closing is just a nice way to bookend the show with some symmetry.

The wreckage I view as either just a tribute to what started the show, or to show the island empty of survivors afterward. Or just a pretty picture to show with the credits. I don't read too much into it.

Do you think that when Desmond blew up the hatch and had his flash off the island, that he died briefly and was in this "limbo" with Ms. Hawking? And they she was fully aware of what happened on the island. Then Desmond came back to life after being dead for a few moments?

This was Jack's Heaven. That's why there is "no now" according to Christian Sheppard. I'm not sure, but I've stopped trying to piece all the previous seasons to the finale. Every time the white light happens, that means someone comes to their "enlightment" and goes on to Heaven. Everyone experiences it even though it's someone else's Heaven

I think that the island was real. Once they died on the island, they went to the alternate reality aka purgatory. The theory is that you don't remember who you loved in purgatory. So that may explain why everyone had to trigger their memory to go to Heaven

That "cork" was protected by the light (Heaven) and its guardian. Once the cork was removed, it turned red in there (Hell), and the evil was breaking loose.

The island is in water as another sign of Heavenly protection (Holy water) or rebirth (baptism). Everyone went there and became a new person. In their previous lives, they were hated, feared, etc. On the island, everyone served a purpose and was needed at one point or another

The only thing is that I don't understand how the time travel was relevant.

Sorry for the ramble, I'm just kind of putting my thoughts down

Exactly, ever since Jacob said "it's just chalk on a wall", people should dial down their sensitivity and anxiety about what everything means. It's almost as if the writers were telling us through the Mother when she says to Jacob, "every question you ask will only lead to more questions etc."

This show was never about the island but the people themselves.

Wait, so did Kate and the others eventually "die" off the island, in "real life" after they escaped?

Well, most people die eventually ;) They could've died from old age, they don't say. In the church they all appear as they remember each other from their time on the island.

    The afterlife seems very confusing.
