I remember that being in there. I don't remember seeing the man Ana Lucia shot but I could have missed that one.
A couple of initial notes: Richard, Ben, and Miles: Damn it took them a long time to get to the barracks. In the time it took them to get there, the other group goes and meets up with Flocke. Splits off with Flocke, steals a sailboat, sails to Hydra island, gets captured by Widmore, gets freed by Flocke/Jack, discovers the plane, hijacks the sub, escapes the sinking sub, ends up back on the main island, waited for the next morning to come. They also said they were going to get some dynamite but they got C4 instead. Zoe made it down to the docks awfully fast. There were just some inconsistencies in that part of the story. Miles made a comment about him being in the 70s was "a week ago". I was thinking about that earlier. This whole season has occurred in a relatively short period of time. As far as they're concerned, the nuke went off just last week. Mrs. Hawking is going to freak when she sees all the Losties show up at Faraday's concert. I probably wasn't paying close enough attention, but in the flash sideways, Miles was was talking about some event to Sawyer and mentioned Charlotte was going to be there. Did he specify what the event was? Could it be Daniel's concert? If so, I bet Daniel hooks up with her there and there's a happy ending for those two.
Great episode and rebound from last weeks somewhat dull episode. Desmond is awesome in every way. I can't believe it. Only 5 days until the end of LOST.
I think the concert is going to be Jack's sons. Good episode not great in my opinion. Really getting interested to see what is going to happen in the alt timeline. Sunday afternoon is going to be fun.
That is how Richard goes out? He is the one of the coolest characters on the show and he get punked like that?
The concert seems to be having Jack's son playing. Miles said it was to honor his father. I must have missed the Farraday reference to it. I'll have to go back and watch it again. I have had the feeling that Juliet is Jack's ex/baby's momma. Guess we'll find out Sunday. So does that account for most of them being there? Great episode I thought. A lot better than last week's. I wonder if Ben screwed up his redemption or if he's playing Flocke? Also nice to see Ana Lucia, though sucks she was a dirty cop. Can't remember if she was before the crash. So many thoughts!
Miles said it was a benefit for for his dad's museum. In "Happily Ever After", Mrs. Hawking was preparing for a charity event that Daniel would perform at, combining classical and rock music (the need for Charlie). The event was on the grounds of the Golden State Natural History Museum. Charlotte works there and that's where Daniel saw her and what triggered his memories. In "Everybody Loves Hugo", Pierre Chang (Miles' dad) MC'd an event where Hurley was named Man of the Year. He had donated money to the museum and they were naming the new paleontology wing after him. So it seems to me that this is the same event Miles was referring to. And it looks like they've been subtly providing connections to the museum all season in the flash sideways. Hurley, being a big donor, has certainly been invited to this benefit concert. He's probably going to be the "in" for the other Losties. Hurley + guests. We know Penny is going to be there too. Maybe David is involved somehow. He's a classical pianist, so is Daniel. It's a benefit concert involving (at least in part) classical music. It makes sense.
HAHAH i agree..everybody else gets some sort of heroic death scene...not him....it was just outa nowhere...BAMM!!..hes dead...
Don't think he's dead either. They would have went out of the way to show him getting killed not just knocked in the air.
So is Desmond sort of like a glitch in the system? I think it's cool how he's orchestrating the reunion, but what purpose is this to serve? I first thought this was all to focus on "waking up" real Locke, but now it seems to be a lot grander than that. I don't think any of the survivors in the real timeline have much to benefit from learning about their alternate selves, and even vice versa (since you can be alive in one and dead in the other). We know that Widmore was working for Jacob now (didn't seem like he was lying) and Jacob was aware of Desmond's immunity. But was Widmore/Jacob's plan for Desmond? In what way do yall think he's a fail-safe?
Great episode... very informational. I think that Jack becoming the "candidate" isn't going to last though... and for some reason, I'm buying the fact that Flocke will infact put the island out.
Having slept on it, I'm more and more convinced that, in the end, the true candidate will be Locke. Old school Locke. The Locke who's been the true believer, the voice of destiny, since he crashed on the island 6 seasons ago. It just makes sense. It would come full circle. Somehow, the original John Locke will be resurrected on the island, sacrificing himself to be the guardian. I'm calling it.
Oh, that line from "Flashes Before Your Eyes" --It's not really a spoiler, just some cool continuity. Eloise Hawkins (or whatever the old lady's name is), tells Desmond in flashback/dream/time-travel, all creepy/scary-like, "If you do not go to that island, every one of us will die!" Here's why I found that amazing. Toward end of Season 5 / Season 6, they start setting up the whole "island as a cork" thing, and the idea that the entire fate of the universe is at stake. That seemed like a big 'ol expansion of scope. Before, the stakes were these characters; now, the stakes are the very existence of the human race. Or something. But no! Desmond's episode, Flashes Before Your Eyes, was early season 3. Well before the halfway point of the series. This tells me that, contrary to the whole making-it-up-as-they-go camp, the writers had their sh#t figured out, at least the important stuff, for a long, long, long time. The groundwork was laid. Also, Desmond's flashes in time are a heck of a lot like the current flash sideways, adding more proof that Season 6 isn't an alternate reality, but some sort of shared group consciousness. Impressive stuff.
Thanks for the heads up Cannonball. I'll have to go back and watch some of those eps again. I wasn't until the things started washing up on the beach and he was a no show. He wasn't a major character, but I thought at least they would show him going down with the boat or something to that effect. I don't think Richard is dead though. Given his importance, especially after this season, I think he's got more left. Plus I'm not sure if MIB could kill him. He probably just wanted him out of the way I have that feeling too. Hurley's line about not wanting to be the protector leads me to that as well.
