My reasoning is this Spoiler The man in black couldn't kill Jacob himself. He needed someone else to do it. Only the leader of the others can request an audience with Jacob. So he orchestrates it so that Locke takes the position over from Ben. He, appearing as Christian, makes sure Lost leaves the island where he's killed. When the dead body returns to the island, he's able to take his form, just as he did Christian. He, as smokey, manifests himself as Alex and orders Ben to do everything Flocke says. That includes, ta da, Flockes order to kill Jacob. I think it makes sense that the man in black is just another human manifestation of Smokey.
Kind of. It was originally a 16 episode season. They only had 8 in the can at the time of the strike. During the strike, Darlton made plans to shorten the season to 13 episodes due to the strike. There was a 5 week gap in new episodes during the strike. But then Darlton wanted the finale to be 2 hours so there ended up being 14 hours of show instead of the intended 16. They took the 2 missing hours and added one to season 5 and the other to season 6, so we still have the same number of hours for the last 3 seasons as they had initially planned.
I almost had a heart attack when I turned the TV on 5 minutes ago. Says 'Lost' but it's a recap special.
Damn, you're bad ass at this. After watching the recap, I was surprised how much I've forgotten about the season 5 finale.
Wearing Dharma gear? That's kinda weird don't you think, they must be made for each other. It would be funny if they went to the grocery store dressed in their Dharma gear. They'd probably freak a few people out.
Dharma gear as in shirts with the Swan logo on it. It's not like they're wearing jumpsuits or anything. The wife wore her shirt to the shooting range so she could learn to "defend the hatch".
If the island was at the bottom of the Ocean like they showed, then Desmond couldn't crash on it in his race around the world. Thus, he was never on the island and could very well have had a reason to be in Australian and on that plane. PS - looks like my prediction on the narrative device was correct.
I don't know if it necessarily created an alternate reality, but they're showing two potential outcomes. Theoretically, for ever action taken, one or more alternate realities exist based on potential outcomes.
jacob said directly to the fake locke "looks like you found your loophole" at the end of the last episode. i think they were less explicit about smoke monster = Spoiler jacob's enemy, but i think i saw in one of the previews the fake locke turning into smoke. but this show completely jumped the shark when the characters started jumping around Spoiler in time, & meeting themselves back to the future style. oh well it's sucked me in. they just bit off far more than they can wrap up this season, or ever. so far i'm less than impressed. i wish i'd have waited until it was completely over with before i watched everything.
On a side note, I think Greg Grunberg (Matt Parkman on Heroes), who played the pilot in "the Pilot", is back doing the voice of the pilot in this episode.
I've looked on the Lost facebook page a few times, it's amazing to me how many people don't realize that "the man who looks like Lock" is Jacob's nemesis and believe that there are two actual Lockes on the island.
I love this show! Spoiler Might sound stupid or common sense I don't think the bomb did not work by making the plane never crashed it just showed what life would have been with if it landed. Pretty soon in a couple of episodes everything will be back to normal when all the bomb did was stop the time travel.
