We don't know who put it there. Flocke spent some time on Hydra island after the crash; who's to say he couldn't have planted it then knowing he'd be back later? I don't know, but it would be a Sayidian display of selflessness for Yao to give up #11.
Here is my theory. Everyone must die in time line A. They can not exist in both time lines permanently. This is why Desmond is so relaxed in when his consciousness' merge. He knows that his existence in time line A is temporary. We know that at some point the island is under water. This has not happened yet. The bomb in 77 did not work. This is why we see so many contradictions in time line B. We are trying to reconcile what happened in time line B with the plane not crashing. However the time lines split way before 77. Time line B is what would have happened if the island did not exist at all. I believe they will blow up all the energy wells. This will cause the island to sink in all of space-time. Time line A will cease to exist and everyone will shift to time line B. Also I believe there may not be one candidate. They all were necessary to achieve the goal of destroying the island. MAN IN BLACK: You brought them here. Still trying to prove me wrong, aren't you? JACOB: You are wrong. MAN IN BLACK: Am I? They come. They fight. They destroy. They corrupt. It always ends the same. JACOB: It only ends once. Anything that happens before that is just progress.
This is what I suspect as well. Sink the Island, sink Smokey, end the cycle. The other reality is a loophole so that the sacrifices aren't permanent.
Maybe not. Remember that during the Ben-centric time like B episode, his father made a comment about them still having been part of the Dharma Initiative on the island but deciding to leave. That would seem to suggest that the Island still existed as late as 1973, the year Roger and Ben initially came to the Island.
Good point. I guess my theory does not completely work, but I think I am close. I was trying to think of an out for the number of contradictions they seem to have created. I hope they have a good explanation in the end.
I'm a big LOST fan and even I wouldn't pay for that. Now, if they showed the finale in theaters, then I would be interested...
I wouldn't go because I don't want to get the slightest bit spoilerered, but it's definately something I'll download and watch after the finale. As for LOST on the big screen, you are aware that Alamo Drafthouse has been simulcasting LOST live on tuesdays for years now, right?!
if the bomb in '77 did not work, then what did it do? Season 6 started with everyone at the site of the Swan Explosion. (caused by Desmond turning the Fail Safe Key) so what caused them to shift from '77 to the current present day on the Island? and when will Juilet's comments "it worked" and "we can go Dutch" come into play?
Non-spoiler Spoiler (something that will NOT take place) Spoiler Confirmed - Eko will not be returning
Wish I hadn't known that... there was a little part of me that still believed. You've raped my innocence.
Must not press that button, but it sounds so titillating now. Do they do a good job with this? Is it too loud or is the place full of lost-heads?
I've never actually "been" to the Alamo showing, but I heard from a friend of a friend that it's pretty fun. I know it's free and supposedly they party for about an hour or so before the show. I've wanted to go for years, but have been reluctant to for one reason or another. However, with time winding down and the opportunity ending, I thought this week might be the perfect time to head out to Highway 6 and try it.
It looks like they're also doing an art show at the Houston location: http://www.drafthouse.com/westoaks/shows.php?id=514
It's good, very enjoyable. Downsides: Can't hit pause on your DVR when you need to run to the bathroom, and the pitchers of beer will ensure that you need to run to the bathroom. It can get very crowded, especially the finale - expect this to be NFL-esque in that people will be getting into that theater hours in advance. Show up 30 minutes before the episode and you're either in a horrible seat or simply SOL.
Quick question - How come Sawyer and Miles don't know each other on the island? Or do they but I just can't tell? I mean, before the crash, they were police partners after all.
