probably somewhere but considering that his character is dead i doubt they'll spend any time on him at all though I wish they did a little Mr. Eko was one of the greatest (imo) characters on the show. they really didnt do anything on shannon, just a bit of charlie and boone in the ALT timelines i wouldnt expect much if anything for Eko. hmm If I remember right wasnt he going to do something for his brother? and if he his brother never crashed on the island he probably wouldnt have gone so maybe he isnt even on 815 to begin with....would need to rewatch his episodes to be sure
Definitely one of my favorite characters. I think when its all done, I'm going to need to have a Lost marathon.
iirc, the actor thought he was bigger than the part and pissed off the writers. in turn, they hacked him. from what i understand, they had a much larger plan for him but he blew it.
I have issues with the whole 'actors piss off the writers/producers/directors' theme this show has showed. Actors crave the limelight, fame, etc, and are going to be jackasses off and on the set. It's what motivates them and drives them. They're A-type personalities. If the Lost producers had an issue with this, they should have handled the casting better. But I digress on this point. The show has handled this well.
At one point in time, Eko was a priest in an Australian church. While there, he was asked to investigate a miracle. A girl had drowned and then come back to life during the autopsy. The father of that girl was Claire's psychic. If the island didn't exist, Yemi still would have gotten on that plane instead of Eko and still would have been shot. Eko still would have taken his place as a priest and likely would have still gone to Australia. The one thing I'm unsure of is why Eko was going to LA.
The reason he was so reluctant to undertake the miracle investigation was due to his (shady?) plans to visit the US.
Is there a theory out about the lineage of Whitmore-Hanso and how 2 generations hit the island? It was never about soul redemption for those guys.
Speaking of, wasn't Hanso supposed to the the captain of the Black Rock? I'm surprised he wasn't shown. I hope they have another flashback episode explaining how the Others came to the island. Also, how the US Government and Dharma Initiative came to find the island. Or was that already explained?
The captain of the Black Rock and the one who purchased Richard Alpert was Magnus Hanso. One of the founders of the Dharma Initiative was Alvar Hanso. Perhaps in his quest to determine what happened to his ancestor, Alvar Hanso founded Dharma to start experiments on the mysterious island and determine what qualities led to the Black Rock's disappearance there.
I don't think that was Hanso. I believe Lostpedia identifies the guy who bought Richard as Jonas Whitfield. He was just an officer on the ship...not the captain. http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Jonas_Whitfield
Yeah, apparently they mentioned something about Hanso in the episode which I missed. The Blast Door Map also referenced Hanso's final resting place near the black rock, so we knew he was on the ship. I'm just surprised they didn't introduce him as a character on the show...even if it was briefly for only one episode.
I guess the theme is supposed to be pan-religious but Richard saying he was dead in hell and Jacob plunging him in the water to realize he was alive and wanted to live was very reminiscent of baptism to me.
The guy playing Eko wanted out. I don't think he was being a diva or anything. I remember hearing interviews with him and the producers together talking about why and how they wanted to let him off the show. Its in one of the Lost podcasts for Season 3.
I'm not sure how Widmore originally got to the island. Assuming he was one of the original others recruited by Jacob/Richard. My theory/guess is that once Widmore wax exiled by Ben he immediately tried to connect with Hanso because it could potentially help him find the island. He built his empire and became business partners with Hanso. I'm not sure if Hanso has any idea that Widmore was one of the others on the island, but I'm sure Widmore knew about Hanso because all of the Dharma initiative stuff that was going on when he was on the island.
'cause he was gangsta.... How to survive in south central (what you do? ) A place where bustin a cap is fundamental No, you can't find the **** in a handbook Take a close look, at a rap crook Rule number one: get yourself a gun A nine in your ass'll be fine Keep it in your glove comparment Cause jackers (yo) they love to start **** Now if you're white you can trust the police But if you're black they ain't nothin but beasts Watch out for the kill Don't make a false move and keep your hands on the steering wheel And don't get smart Answer all questions, and that's your first lesson On stayin alive In south central, yeah, that's how you survive
Incredible episode....definitely in my top 3. Not sure if this was mentioned but based on how Locke's body was hijacked, I think Smokey also hijacked Christian's body. I think he first tried to manipulate Jack to kill Jacob but it seemingly didn't work. But then he goes on to tell Ben to move the island and orders Ben to bring everyone back. So Ben has been the one being played the whole time. Also, here are the top 10 questions that I have (i have about 500 but meh)... 1) What happened to Desmond in the alt timeline? 2) Why did Smokey say that Jacob took his body? 3) Why was Widmore exiled off the island by Ben? 4) Is Faraday a part of the alt timeline? 5) What about Walter? He was supposed to be special... 6) What do the babies have anything to do with everything? 7) Why is Kate not suppose to raise Aaron? 8) Who built the statue that is now in ruins? 9) Who are the 'protectors' that Jacob recruited? 10) What caused the island to sink?
Smokey never told Ben to move the island. He told Locke to move the island and Ben took it upon himself to turn the frozen donkey wheel. Likewise, it was Locke that was told to bring the others back, not Ben. Also, here are the top 10 questions that I have (i have about 500 but meh)... Officially, for having a family off the island (Penny) which was against the rules. Unofficially, because Ben wanted to be the leader.
I thought this was interesting since the revelation of last week's episode: before the season started ABC offered 815 viewers a sneak peek at the opening scene from "LA X" here is the promo photo they used Spoiler also, this week's episode is titled Spoiler "The Package." I think we learn more about Jin and Sun in the alternate timeline
