It seems they wanted to establish a thicker sideways story for them (hence Sayid finding Jin tied up). I'll willing to bet the episode after the Ben episode is about them. I'll be really pissed off if that teaser after the episode was true. I'm not too worried bc those are usually bull****.
Miles was picking up one of his "Ghostbuster" vibes on Claire after the Keamy attack on the barracks (she was in a house that got blown to hell but somehow survived with a concussion). There should be at least light suspicion that she died and Smokey resurrected/infected her then like we've seen with Sayid. Miles had the same antenna buzzing moment at the Temple. I think the Widmore/Ben relationship and fight is more of a parallel to the Smokey/Jacob one. Widmore was a Jacob follower and leader of the Others until Ben pulled some light shenanigans to boot him off the Island. I think Operation: Get Ben was all about Widmore wanting his place back on the Island. I don't think it had anything to do with Smokey. In the end, both Widmore and Ben were "the wrong team" because their motives weren't pure. Neither fully surrendered themselves to Jacob's plan - Widmore had Penny off the Island (against "the rules"), and Ben wanted the Others to live in the Barracks rather than off the land or in the Temple (something that clearly chafed both Richard and Real-Locke). It's similar to the Old Testament business of the Hebrews straying off the path, golden calves and what have you. Given the show's love for misdirection, I wouldn't anticipate too hotly that they kill the person they're implying is in danger. Not the first time they've done a bait & switch with a kill night. Spoiler Ana Lucia's coming back this season, as is Michael, Libby, and Charlotte. in the sideways universe I assume. or maybe in one of Hurley's visions...
Can't forget a Dr. Arzt sighting next week. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/O-DRpqTM9p4&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/O-DRpqTM9p4&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Is anybody else really disappointed by this season so far? I'm still in it for the long haul, but I'm feeling pretty let down.
He was shown on the airplane when it landed in the alternate reality, so it isn't like he is a surprise introduction.
yeah, I assumed we would see those characters regardless, I didn't think listing their confirmed cameos really makes a difference at this point in the season. it's hard when Yahoo is posting it on their front page...
Don't take this as a cranky old man post, but this is why it's important to be overly cautious when it comes to spoilers. It's good to get out of the habit of determining for yourself whether a spoiler is big enough or not to qualify. Use the spoiler tag, but be sure to put some kind of heads up in front of the spoiler. A post that has nothing but the spoiler button is a landmine - no way to know what's in it without looking. Better to do something along these lines: Mild Spoiler about upcoming cameos Spoiler A crap ton of characters that died are going to show up again the next 10 episodes What's not a big deal to you or me could be a very upsetting spoiler for someone else. By the way, Jack kills Sayid on Tuesday Spoiler J/K
I actually enjoyed it. Widmore told Locke that a war was coming and that he had to return to the island or else the wrong side would win. I guess Widmore is going to align himself with Smokey, opposite the side that Ben is on.
It's funny, I guess I'm completely out of step with the majority. I thought this was by far and away the strongest ep of the season, after the 2-hour premiere. Loved it, and I think that the season is now on solid footing, and will surge toward the conclusion.
I thought it was awesome, but in a subdued, very personal way. Yes, it didn't advance the story that much, but the character development on both Jack and Ben was unreal. What amazing faith shown by Jack. Talk about putting your money where your mouth is. And Ben's confession to Ilana and her reaction was very touching. My hats off to the writers on this one.
I liked the little Nikki and Paulo reference and Miles holding up a diamond near the end. Richard said that Jacob touches you and you get the gift so I'm thinking that all of the "candidates" have the gift too. That's why the dynamite didn't go off, because Jack would be killing himself which is something those with "the gift" can't do. Something else interesting is that Ben and Roger WERE on the island in the flash sideways but they chose to leave. I don't think the bomb sunk the island, but the island must have sunk sometime after 1973 which is when Ben came to the island.
