I also feel like they brought back Rob Mcelhenney simply for "shock value" because he has become much more famous since his first appearance.
Yeah I felt some tongue in cheek when he was going "you don't know who I am?" While it's another filler ep, I realize I didn't care about what happened to claire. Ditto with Kate she's as fickle and wishy washy as claire from heroes. This "darkness" could be the 3rd player or maybe the unrefined naturey part of the island. It's like they're introducing all these new characters only to force us to rewatch the older ones. I can't remember what happened to Rousseau or aldo from 3 seasons or 4 years ago.
Last night's episode made me want to just DVR them from here on out and watch them all back-to-back once the season is over. It was too slow, too flat and too boring after all the anticipation was built up over the week. I'm not sure I can take too many of these episodes that should/could have been condensed into 10 minutes and put in another episode.
i don't have the best memory when it comes to remembering details from each season. does anyone know how or when claire was infected...as was eluded to in this episode at the end? does that imply she died and was brought back in that same pool? all i remember about claire is she basically just disappeared one season...like she fell off a cliff or something. i guess they are going to explain that in the next episode...now that she is back. her behavior reminded me a lot of the French woman. she appeared to be setting her own traps and checking them twice. obviously, she is against the other Others as she took them out without hesitation. but, jin sparked a memory or something with her...so it implies the infection hasn't completely wiped out claire. i'm definitely ready for this show to end. lol.
christian took her away to the cabin when she was with locke so she spent a lot of time with smokey it was how kate was able to keep aaron
He is the star and creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, currently the funniest show on television
Why are we getting filler episodes this late in the game? Are they just going to do a huge "here-are-the-answers" data dump in the last episode, like Battlestar Galactica did? Because that would suck.
seriously last night was bad outside of the convo Jack and Dagon had and the end with Claire nothing really gripped me at all. I felt cheated since there are only a few episodes left
Agreed, may have been the worst episode ever, very uneventful. I watched it last night after the game with a friend and thought I may have missed something, but after reading some of the forums I guess I didn't.
We don't know exactly what happened to Claire. She was with Miles and Sawyer headed back to the beach from Dharmaville. They camped out for the night and she followed Christian into the jungle, leaving Aaron behind. The last time we saw her was when Locke found the cabin again and Christian told him he had to move the island. I think this infection is the same infection that took over Rousseau's team after they went beneath the temple wall. Initially I wondered if the "darkness" was part of what happened to Ben but I think it's something different. Anyone else find it odd that the Temple is supposed to be the last safe place on the island for the Others and that they're using ash to protect themselves from Smokey. Yet we know that Smokey is routinely around (likely living in) the tunnels beneath the Temple wall. That's where Smokey infected Rousseau's team. That's where Ben went to be judged by Smokey. That's kind of weird. It's like moving next door to a guy that you know wants to kill you. It was cool to see Ethan "Goodspeed". I thought they might have Juliet be Claire's doctor but she's probably in Miami. While it was slow, I hope this episode was largely a necessary evil, putting characters in places they need to be for the endgame to play out. Jin searching for Sun, Sawyer beginning some kind of association with Flocke, and the rest back in the Temple wondering what to do about Sayid.
Eh? Locke took Ben to the temple to get judged, didn't he? Locke, at that time, was "Smokey" just as he is now. "Smokey" doesn't live next door, he is Locke (currently).
Nothing could unseat the Nikki and Paulo CSI spider episode. And there were plenty of filler episodes in the first couple of seasons that were worse. The trick is, we've got 15 episodes remaining and they pissed one away. At this point, Kate-centric episodes are the polar extreme from Desmond-centric ones.
Agreed. So you think a Desmond-centric episode is on deck? I personally can't stand Kate-centric episodes, she's the biggest flip-flopper on the island. The only thing worse were the Juliet-centric episodes...I'm glad she's dead(maybe). If you have any new theories regarding the show as it moves forward, I enjoy reading them. I'm surprised they used a filler episode so early in the season, you'd think they would wait a few episodes before rolling out the dribble.
In reading the recap for "Dead is Dead", we're both kind of right. It was Ben who said he needed to be judged because he felt guilty about allowing Alex's death. That was one of the first things he told Flocke when he awoke after being knocked out by Sun's canoe paddle. When Ben told him this, Flocke offered to help him. Ben tried to summon Smokey at the Dharma barracks (like he did for Keamey's team) but Smokey didn't show for obvious reasons. Ben said that they needed to find Smokey but he didn't know where it lived. Flocke said that he knew and led them to the Temple where Smokey (in smoke form) rose from inside the structure. It still seems like Smokey has been in that area a few times and that he has never really been prevented from being near the Temple. And the way Ben signaled for Smokey was part of the underground ruins that look similar to the Temple.
I don't understand why people thought that this episode was filler... You have Jack bonding with the "leader" of the others... and trying to convince him that Claire's gone bad?? Sayid screaming when being tortured? SOOOO not in his makeup... you gotta know there's something wrong there. Sawyer being bad arse and sentimental in the same episode. ::thumbs up:: Showing how Kate and Claire "bonded" if the plane made it to LA... stellar! Jin trying to get to his woman - yay! and finding out that Claire is still alive on the island - hoorah! I liked the episode. No there wasn't a huge explosion, anyone getting shot, or scenes with the smoke monster... but it was more than enough for me!
