I'm guessing because of the dual locations/time periods, they're doing away with the flashback/flashforwards this seasons. In essence, going back and forth between the island and LA is acting as the flashback/flashforward. But it's not like they haven't milked virtually everything they could have out of the back stories up to this point.
Initially, I thought that was Sun and Ben! asian chick and the back of the Candle's head just made it look like Ben to me.
Initially, I thought it was Jin with some other woman. I was thinking "man, they're really not wasting any time with the surprises or WTF moments this season."
Great episode. My gf actually watched it with me, she's seen last season's finale, a now the premiere of this season.
She must think you're so strange. My roommates walked in as I was watching it and repeatedly said, "What the hell is going on?" After watching every episode religiously, I was a little ashamed to admit that I wasn't really sure.
Great episode tonight, now I'm just chopping at the bits for more! Having Lost back is like no other.
which reminds me... Is Jin dead or what? Don't see him in any previews or promo pics. I don't remember.. did he jump off the boat? ..his name is still listed in the opening credits... but there is no mentioning of him anywhere.
The last we saw of Jin was him being on the freighter and it blowing up. As we have seen in the past, just because you are "dead" doesn't necessarily mean that you are "dead". Great show, I love, love, love LOST.
So I spent an hour watching the season premiere and I'm no more knowledgeable than a random person watching it. God damn this is killing me.
I've been a big Lost fan since the pilot back in 2004, but I thought yesterday's Season Premiere was lacking. Not to say it was awful, but just not terribly interesting or riveting either. To me the storyline wasn't advanced much at all as the episode contained alot character development on the Oceanic 6, but mainly of Hurley which is one of the characters I care least about. Hey, not every episode is going to be a mind-blower so I'm not too worried about it and will be watching every episode from here on out.
Better get used to lots of Hurley this season. He seems to be the Lynchpin to getting them all back. Quantum Leap is finally back!
I think it's kind of open ended but maybe not. The freighter seems to be outside of the "radius" so it didn't move when the island moved. So even if Jin did manage to jump off the boat and survive, he's in the middle of the ocean with absolutely nothing nearby.
Jin - I think most people suspect that he survived the freighter explosion, but would be divided as to whether he did or didn't join the raftees in the island's transportation. Where/when/how he shows up is going to be the surprise. Could be that Ben doesn't realize he's got to bring back one more castaway. I thought it was a fantastic episode - letting go of the single character flashback/forward opened the show up a lot. This episode moved as well if not better than any have. The Ana Lucia cameo was awesome. It looks like we're in for great stuff on the island, as they can now very easily show us a motherload of stuff we've wanted forever: Dharma arriving and in action The Rosseau backstory The Black Rock arrival The origin of the natives/hostiles Volcano!
