by had.. you mean stole right? Spoiler I think we will know more about Ben's encounter with rouseau and how Ben gets Alex in the next episode
Another great episode. This season has been A+ so far. Spoiler The scene where Ben encounters the smoke monster was excellently done. It actually made me feel sorry for Ben. A ton of WTF moments in there too. I mean for a minute there I thought Ben killed Desmond just like that, that Desmond was dead. Glad he didn't die. I also thought FOR SURE Penny would be killed this episode.
Well that finally proves that smokey can manifest into people. Did anyone else laugh when Locke came out of the forest instead of smokey?
I missed the first 30 min of the show, can someone fill me in? Cause I'm a lil lost as to why "Smokey" will appear to remind Ben of Alex's death, then bring her back only to tell Ben to listen to Locke. I'm lost.....hoping whatever someone can fill me in on what I missed will help me make sense of this episode. Any help is appreciated!
Spoiler FLASHBACKS: Charles Widmore meeting Ben after he's been healed, played by another actor as he's older than young Widmore from the 1940s or 50s, but younger than current Widmore. He tells him that he has to go back to his camp, but that just because he'll be there doesn't mean he'll be a member of Dharma. There's also a flashback of Ben as an adult, but I guess in his 20s, along with young teenage Ethan Rom waiting to ambush Rossou in her tent but he just takes the baby and tells her if she wants to live to always run away from the whispers. Back at the Others camp, Widmore, now played by the old man Widmore, is upset that Ben has come back with a baby. His job was to kill Rossou, but he didn't expect to find a baby and Widmore says he should have killed it but Ben says it's not a it, it's a person and that Rossou is too crazy to be a threat and challenges Widmore's assertion that the Island told him to kill Rossou and the baby. Another flashback shows Ben seeing Widmore off the island in cuffs after being banished. Widmore asks Ben if he's sure the island didn't want Alex to die and tells him if she's meant to die, she will die sooner or later. CURRENT TIME: Ben tells Locke that he's going to the main island to be judged because he was told he couldn't come back but he did anyways. Locke figures that Ben isn't looking to be judged about coming back to the island, but because he's responsible for his daughter's death. The hispanic guy tells Ben that Locke claims he was killed by Ben and that he'll watch his back and shows him the sawed off double barrel shotgun. Later when Locke and Ben are about to leave, the hispanic guy says that he's not letting them take the boat and when Locke says "what are you gonna do?" he goes for the shotgun but Ben had already stolen it and shoots the hispanic guy dead. Oh, some interesting things, Locke asks Ben why he moved his people to the Dharma houses and wonders if maybe the island didn't want him to do that. Ben and Locke find Sun and the Loupidas waiting in Alex's old room and they say Christian told them to wait for Locke who'd show them how to get back to their friends. Locke insists that Ben get on with it and summon the smoke monster. Ben goes into a secret room that leads into some stone tunnels and there's this small pit of water he reaches into and drains and then he says "I'll be waiting outside" Sun asks if Ben knew that Locke would come back to life and he says no. When your dead your dead. The fact that Locke is alive scares him. The monster doesn't come and Locke says they should go looking for it and that he knows where to find it. Ben is kind of annoyed that Locke knows things he doesn't and Locke relishes in the role reversal.
They asked him "what lies in the shadow of the statue". They're not others. Others would either know the answer to the question or know that Lapidus wouldn't know what they're talking about. They've figured out that Lapidus had been here before. And they probably found something while he was away that referred to the statue. They think he knows more than he actually does.
It could be code that Others would know the answer to. They might have been testing him to see if he could answer an Others-only riddle. Your theory could be right but the opposite could be too.
i know its a long way away but im really curious as to what the point of all this is. the last episode of this show will be a crazy one.
We're actually not that far from the show's conclusion. 13 months, ~24 episodes. Given that they're (very wisely) not holding everything back to be revealed in the final 3 episodes of the series, I'm shifting into appreciate it now mode. I'm sad to see yet another theory of mine (Widmore turns the FDW in 1977 to send back the Losties, exile himself, and cause the incident) blown - but love that the show keeps me guessing. Enjoyed how the baby-napping Benry was given a very young-Hitler look. That was ~early 1989, making it pre-purge (1992), so he and Ethan were "one of us, one of them": members of the Others and Dharma. Looked like Widmore's exile occurred either 1994 or 95. Helps explain why he was at the auction buying Hanso's ledger in 1996. I could have believed anything with the Docks encounter - if they don't show it when it goes down (beginning of season), don't presume! Great to get confirmation, and happy that Pennah is still okay. "What lies in the shadow of the statue" - I'd have to think that's the Orchid station. But that dents my thought that they're Team Widmore - why would they need to ask that? Do we have a third party emerging? The biggest question had to be what was in the case. Tools? Weapons? A Nuke? If Caesar's dead, that was an AWESOME kill scene. Wouldn't be shocked if he was wearing a vest and it was another Benry setup (Benry scripting it with Caesar to gain Locke's misplaced trust). Hey Frank, are you really going to canoe back in the middle of the pitch black night??? Sleep in a bed and go back in the morning! Seeing the temple was cool. For any that were confused, we've seen Smokey "judge" before - Eko had his past flash before his eyes in a similar manner once. The next time he saw Smokey, however, it appeared as his brother and killed him a lot. When Alex appeared, I wondered if Ben was going down. I absolutely do not believe Benry really intended to present himself to be judged. Locke and the island forced that to happen. Also - this serves as partial evidence that the Temple and Smokey aren't necessarily one and the same. Richard went into the actual Temple to heal/change Benry, while Locke sent him underneath (and the island sent him further underneath) to encounter Smokey. Evan
They're starting to explain the circumstances behind the Oceanic 6 returning to the island. We know why Jack, Kate, Sun, and Sayid came back. But I think there are a few things still left to explain. First, I just can't remember this, but did they explain why Hurley came back to the island yet? Wasn't he in jail? That will be an episode pretty soon. Two, how doesn't anyone (especially Jack) react to Ben looking all beat up when they see him at the airport? If I didn't know any better I'd say there must have been another encounter before they get on the airplane. Yet, Ben calls Jack and tells him he'll be late arriving to the airport (presumably because he's getting his wounds treated), which implies Ben never did see anyone until he arrives at the airport. Anyway, maybe I'm just completely forgetting the reaction when they first see Ben, but I took a mental note when it happened, that their reaction was not one of surprise. I mean if you see someone who looks perfectly fine the day before, and the next day looks like he got mauled by a freaking bear, you ask "what the hell happened to you!?"
Thanks Oski. I could have waited until today for Hulu but I was so hyped for last night's "Ben's Judgement" episode....and then I missed half of it. I just had to find out what I missed. Thanks for the recap....cant wait to see it when I get home tonight.
It may be by the time he is home from work. While Lost is not "stored" on hulu, you can get to it from there.
Yeah, Hulu is owned by NBC and FOX so they don't "store" the show. Instead they just redirect you to ABC's episode player which is more that what I'd expect them to do.
There was a scene with Ben and the Lawyer he hired to get custody of Aaron taken away from Kate. In it, the Lawyer tells him that the case against Hurley is thin because the man who Hurley allegedly killed was already dead by the time Hurley escaped the institution. He said that Hurley would be released in the morning. When Jack sees Hurley at the airport he asked him how he knew about the specifics of them going back and Hurley responded that it didn't matter. When Ben got on the plane, Jack was cool but Sun and Kate looked a little shocked while Hurley freaked out, but mostly just because it was Ben. But in all honesty if you saw Ben in that state, would you show concern or sit back and enjoy in the fact that he just got his ass beat.
^^^ is the answer for Hurley getting sprung. I presume we'll see Hurley have another undead visitor tell him to get on the plane and that Ben's not supposed to come. Probably Charlie, since Hugo was carrying a guitar with him. As to Ben, there was at least mild suprise on the faces, but at this point you have to figure that (a) he's detested to such a degree that no one minds seeing him beat like that, (b) they'd probably chalk some of it up to "Ben being Ben", or (c) be suspicious that it was a play for sympathy and decided to ignore it. Interacting with Ben usually leads to no good.
