Juicy tidbit courtesy of Lostpedia. There were two alternate endings that they aired on Good Morning America this morning. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/DWWMYFAycmQ&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/DWWMYFAycmQ&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
Thanks for posting that. One of the girls here at work was talking about it today I was going to go look for it tonight.
The alternate endings were done to spoil the spoilers. Nice wrap to the best season so far, IMO. Evan
probably because they know they are dead for sure and can't screw up their story, and they don't want to say someone is dead who might not be
Really? How so? I mean, I never thought it was Locke, but never would have guessed Sawyer or Desmond...Best so far? IMHO, no...The first was the best, now, one of the best episodes was this season, and for me it was the Desmond one...but that doesn't make it the best...I still think its cheesy to make an island disappear...
They did three endings so that no one on the set knew who was going to be in the final scene. Meaning the crew couldn't spoil people by saying... "oh I was on set that day, Sawyer was the one in the coffin" In fact only the writers and Matthew Fox knew the true ending from what I understand.
There had been serious leaks going on this season, including a detailed scene-by-scene of the Finale (parts 1-3) that broke out a couple weeks ago. They filmed the 3 endings to help prevent the John Locke reveal from getting out too soon, or at least make it uncertain for the spoiler crowd. As far as my considering this the best, just my opinion. S2 and S3 have some pretty bad stretches, and half of S2 and a third of S3 was completely pointless in the grand scheme of things. In a lot of ways S1 was great, but I find it tough to rewatch those episodes. First run in 2004 was fine, but its pace was incredibly slow and mostly concerned with character exposition. Again, just my opinion. Evan
The Oceanic 6 told the public EVERYBODY was dead. So what purpose does it serve to say a few survived but died later anyway? There has to be some significance to Boone, Libby, and Charlie that they're going to reveal next season.
I wonder what it is suppose to mean . . . . Jack will be travelling to the island . . .with ANOTHER dead body. Rocket River . . just a random thought
earlier episode where micheal tried to kill himself multiple times but couldnt because the island still had a purpose for him.
Yeah, it was Michael's flashback when Mr. Friendly recruits him to sabotage the freighter. Michael tries to kill himself in a car wreck but doesn't die. He also tries to shoot himself in the head and the gun jams. In a later episode, when Keamy finds out Michael broke the engines, he tries to shoot Michael but his gun misfires too.
Well, I for one have been quite impressed with Sawyer's personal growth displayed throughout his character arch. From overt, almost brotherly concern for Hurley, a certain gentleness for freckles, to his classy leap from the helicopter - a deft move I couldn't help but applaud.
Maybe, just maybe, Jack's trip to the island back in the pilot episode was actually his SECOND one, and the original body in the coffin was in fact Locke. Dum dum DUM!! BTW, someone on AICN made a very good point. The "frozen donkey wheel" was most likely made to be used by animals. Particularly animals used to cold temperatures. Hmmm, what cold climate animals have we seen both on the island and in Tunisia (where Ben was transported)? Was THAT the purpose of the polar bears? Makes perfect sense to me.
What was the purpose of the metal? Was it suppose to be able to USE the Island's power [on organic things] without moving the Island. But the Metal would allow them to get to the REAL controller? Rocket River
I think the metal was just like putting metal in the microwave. Ben used the explosion to blow down the false wall of Dharma's experiment chamber to get to the much older portal facility. (built by the three toed aliens?) Wasn't Dharma the brainchild of and financed by Alvar Hanso? I don't think Widmore has anything to do with Dharma. I read in Houston paper that he learned about the Island from purchasing The Blackrock's log book (though I don't recall that scene) I think Dharma benignly threatened the Island's existence with their experiments until The Island organized The Others to make them stop. And, Widmore (and Piak?) are trying to locate The Island to exploit it for their own enrichment. But that doesn't explain why Ben couldn't kill Widmore or why Widmore can't kill Ben.
