Should have known. John Locke was an English philosopher. Jeremy Bentham was an English philosopher. It kind of makes sense that they would use that as an alias.
Pretty good episode. I loved the way it started, going back to last finale's final scene. The rescue was a little anticlimactic, though. I guess I just expected something a little more... shocking. Oh, well. Nice to see Penny and Desmond meet up, though. Random thoughts: So, I think we now know the other person that Sun blames for Jin's "death": Jack. (He said as much in the last scene.) Speaking of which, I think Jin will be okay, as Daniel's boat was heading to the freighter last we saw of it. Does anyone think Charlotte is Ben's old childhood girlfriend from way back? I guess showing Walt in this episode blows a hole in the "Abbadon is a grown-up Walt!" theory. Is Claire dead?
When Sun said to Widmore that they have common interests and "we're not the only ones that got off the island" , she was obviously referring to Desmond. I'm wondering if she blames Desmond - maybe for leaving Jin with the bomb?
You would think that Sun would blame Widmore. He's the one who sent the mercenaries who blew up the boat. Widmore didn't know why she'd want anything to do with him and I don't know either. Maybe she really doesn't blame Jack and has something in store for Widmore. I dunno. I thought the same thing about Claire. Who have we seen appear after they left the island? Charlie and Christian Sheppard, both dead. Hurley was apparently playing chess with Eko. The only difference this time was that Kate was asleep. So maybe she's still alive. I'm wondering how the format will be next season. I'm guessing it will center of Jack trying to get the others to agree to the island and then actually getting there with flashbacks to the terrible things that happened after the Oceanic 6 left the island and how and why Locke left. Or vice versa. I'm not sure how many episodes could be involved with Jack getting everybody on board so that may be better served as a flash forward.
Either that or Jacob/Christian/The Island/whoever protected them and just brought him back to the island. I say that because of the scene where Christian appears and tells Michael it's okay right before the ship blows up. I don't think he was being ironic...I think Michael is actually safe, which means Jin and everyone else on or around the boat probably is too.
to paraphrase the eloquent roger clemens, you are "misremembering" that scene. christian tells michael, "you can go now", not that it's ok. michael had been unable to die, so i interpreted as his work was done, so now he'd be able to.
Did anyone understand what Sawyer whispered to Kate or what was said over the phone to Kate in her dream?
I think it was intentionally left unintelligible to be a mystery for next season. Remember when Jack got mad at Kate for going out and she said she was doing a favor for Sawyer? Well whatever that favor is is whatever he told her in the helicopter before he jumped out. I'm sure we'll find out what that is next season.
No no. I couldn't remember exactly what he said (and was too lazy to look it up), I still just interpreted it as it's okay he can go now as in off the boat. I forgot about the immortality curse Michael had, so it does make more sense that he dies. Just seems very unceremonious way to kill him, especially since they just re-introduced Walt in the same episode.
Very good finale, not great but still very good. i thought i had read before the season that we'd get more info on the huge 4 toed statue this season, wonder if they cut that out because of the strike
