can someone tell me how and when Jack's dad dies? i don't remember and i'm trying to make sense of the timeline from last night's episode
We don't know how he died. Some people don't think he's dead since we never see the body. edit: oops, wrong word.
I don't remember that specifically, but I do know that when he opened the coffin in season 1, the body wasn't in it.
The obvious answer is that Michael has been brainwashed by The Others. But what if he's just crazy? Think about it: He and his son crash on the crazy mother@#$%ing island from hell, where everyone is constantly being stalked by jungle weirdos. His son is then stolen from him by said jungle weirdos. He gets clubbed and tossed in a pit when he's mistaken for a jungle weirdo. He then runs off into the jungle by himself to find the kid and the weirdos, knowing that doing so is likely a death sentence. He returns weeks later, mostly unconscious. Assuming that he's not one of The Others, at this point, wouldn't he want to simply kill every last Other on the island and get his kid back? Probably so. But he's realized by now that he can't do it by himself. So what can he do? He can return to camp and convince everyone there to plunge back into the jungle with him as reinforcements, convince them to help him wipe The Others out once and for all. But how do you do that? First, you lie and say that The Others can be easily taken - they're just simple savages, you say. But how can you ensure that everyone will head into the jungle for blood? You're not too sure, but then an opportunity presents itself to spring Henry and frame him for murdering one of the group. That'll send everyone into the jungle after Henry, locked and loaded. Even still, shooting Ana for the frame job is extreme, but then (A) you're 3/4 nuts already, (B) you're desperate, (C) opportunity knocks, (D) you don't really know her, (E) she killed Shannon, so @#$% her. Libby walking in on you, well that's just bad luck, but in for a penny, in for a pound. So maybe Michael isn't brainwashed. Maybe he's just obsessed.
Agreed, good post Furious Jam! I think what ever Michael is doing it's as a result of his obession with not being a bad father, a point which has been hammered home time and again, we'll see how this plays out
I'm pretty sure the little girl "Emma" from the tail section in "The Other 40 Days" had a brother who got mouth to mouth from Anna, so that would mean Jack had two siblings on the plane....dunno about that. Cindy was the Tail Section Survivor who disappeared just before Anna shot Shannon.
what? no trailer for the next episode on abc.com???? anyone find it on youtube? or a recap of next week's ep please edit* nevermind found it -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxMY6EzpyIQ&search=lost
I think Michael killing at least one person is a little over the top for Jam's obession theory. He probably has been brainwashed by the others, being it that Henry has told Ana Lucia that she pissed them off by killing a couple of them off his "mission" was probably to kill her. Whatever happened to the ghosts and the big creature?
No one has really been in the area near "The Security System" in a while....near the Black Rock and the African plane - the "primary nexus of cerebrus activity" per the map on the door. Its been malfunctioning since it got dynamited back in the season finale.
Has anyone considered the idea that Michael has "the disease" that Russeau (crazy French chick) has been raving about for more than a season? It's a possibility. Personally, I agree with Furious Jam. I think Michael made a deal with the Others to get Walt back. How come no one showed up to hear Jack's trade proposal? Because, well, Michael was already on the job.
Could be. Killing an innocent (or semi-innocent) person, and then risking dozens of lives on top of that, to save another isn't very rational. But Mike has been steadily breaking down since Walt was taken. And when that one other person is your kid, everything else probably goes out the door. Really, how else would Mike get everyone else to go after Walt? This way, they all try to catch Henry before he gets too deep into the woods. And Mike says, "I know which way he's headed! Follow me!" Only Mike leads them to where they're keeping Walt.
Well they were doing exactly that BEFORE he shot Ana. The whole reason he was alone with Ana was because they left to get the guns to start their war. They were willing to go to war when Sun was "nabbed."
That's exactly what I've been telling my friend when he states he thinks that he shot ana to get everyone fired up to kill the others. I was like they were willing to do it anyway. Hell, jack was very assertive with sawyer to get the guns back. Burning his manuscript.
They went after Walt once before, only to be turned back at "the line". That's why Mike took off on his own in the first place. I could be wrong, but I think Mike saw an opportunity to seal the deal and took it. Hey, who wants to bet that when they find Walt, he'll be the one in control of The Others? I bet they worship him or something, and being a kid who doesn't know better, he takes to it.
