It seems to me that Libby is up to something. In the flashback, she was at the same mental hospital as Hurley. She seems to be pretending she is into Hurley(if I had to guess). After she gave him a few kisses and got him to come back from the ledge, he said something to her that made her smile but, as they were walking away, that smile turned into a serious facial expression. The fact is if she was at the same hospital...she would definitely know who Hurley is but, since her appearance was different, he hasn't been able to say where he knows her from other than he does know her from some where. Libby appears to be hiding stuff and knows more than she is letting on. Or, maybe Hurley really is imagining all this and she is a manefestation from the hospital where they were both patients. That episode was obviously meant to throw a wrench into any of the existing theories out there.
This was known from an earlier Hurley flashback episode. Hurley wins the lottery with the numbers and bad stuff starts happening so he goes back to the mental institution to ask the guy what they mean. The guy freaks out and asks why he would do such a thing as use the numbers.
The whole Libby in the same hospital thing was kind of like WTF but I'm sure they will explain it at some point. I also get that feeling that Libby is hiding something, well obviously she is since she not a doctor but a nut job herself. Good episode
Sayid has been trying to get revenge since Shannon first was killed. He pulled his gun out onto Ana after she shot Shannon. He beating Gale to death until Jack pulled him off. He didn't even hardly try to look for the balloon when they reached the grove. He just wants to off an other like Charlie did to Ethan.
Loved this ep. It's actually my favorite this season, and possibly one of the best this series has churned out. For some reason, the Hurley episodes always seem plugged into the overall story-arc. Like the numbers. So even when there are flashbacks, the flashbacks serve a larger purpose--they amplify the core story. Unlike Jin and Sue's episodes, say, which are more standalone and "filler."
I think from now on all the flashbacks should be about Hurly, John, and Libby. And I want to know where Michael is!!!
Abrams has always maintained that this show is about faith. "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1 The Practice of Faith may be practiced by those of lesser spiritual capacities, and is especially designed for those in the latter days after the demise of the Dharma. The practice of faith entails opening oneself up to and accepting the spiritual influence of the Dharma. The first step in faith is turning one's life over to the care and spiritual influence of the Three Treasures (Buddha, Dharma, Sangha). In itself this is a recognition and confession of spiritual suffering and a request for help from the Three Treasures. It is the original cause for the inspiration of the mind, and this cause must ever be renewed to keep one on the path of enlightenment. http://www.tientai.net/teachings/Sutra/faith&dharma.htm
I don’t know why, but I kept doing hitting the TIVO replay on that part.. Her change in facial expression has me baffled, it was really eerie..
I think there's a more simple explanation for this. This was right after Hurley asked "do you think i can really change" or whatever, and she said "yes i do". I suspect it was then just her remembering that she changed from what she once was.
Or, maybe she remembered she hasn't really changed at all and there is something more sinister going on that she cannot or will not divulge?
True - but it seemed more like a contemplative look than anything else to me. Like she was kinda spaced out thinking of a different time, different place.
I took that scene to be a little good cop/bad cop routine. Sayid knows he no use to them dead. Nice Ghostbusters quote in the sig.
Season two sucked for a few episodes but my show is back! What a great episode. I doubt that this is all in Hurley's head. Remember in season one when the baby was born? I was all worried that the show would revolve around Aaron. It's never that simple on Lost. My guess is that Libby was following Hurley to Australia for a reason. Numbers? Lottery? Getting better? All of the characters have demons and all of those demons have surfaced, except for Libby.
You wouldn't find it amusing if you were stuck with a bunch of people and the guy who was busy running rackets and making himself up to be all that got beat up by the unassuming, usually jovial fat guy? Because I'd be laughing my ass off.
I WAS laughing my ass off during the whole thing, and I just hate Sawyer because he is an arrogant *******. But to imagine yourself in place of these people who are actually on the wrong end of his arrogant assholism...then yeah, I'm sure they ALL thought it was funny. Including Kate, as she demonstrated just after that.
