It's your first sentence there that really keys it in. I know you're an advocate for developing our young players, but I think that's exactly what ties everything together for why JVG isn't succeeding. It's his inability to develop fresh talent. This shouldn't have been surprising as he tried to bring the 1990's Knicks players back from the dead when he came here. He continues to reward veteran players that believe in his "system" rather then attempting to shift to the players' strengths and weaknesses. I was and am a proponent for JVG because you can tell he puts in the time and has the dedication, but he really needs to be malleable in order for this teem to succeed.

In my opinion, the real reason that we were so successful last year was how Sura meshed everything so well together and was the bulldog with tenacity that we lack right now. Now, no one has a killer instinct and it seems the attitude is pervasive with the newer players so it needs to be cutoff early. Every game I watch, it seems like we're trying not to lose instead of trying to win.

Anyways, I'm with DaDakota on this one, but not to any extreme. Play the talent while there's still playing time to be had, rest the veterans, and see where it takes us. All of the really successful teams out there have deep benches because they developed them. So to say the scheme is tanking is really a misnomer. We're just doing our developing of our bench a little later then usual.

Another thing that boggles my mind is why did we trade for an AND1 Star and then play him like a classic point guard. He should be breaking ankles, breaking down defenses, and passing alley-oops to Stro.

One more thing, I'm not sure if it was mentioned in another thread, but could someone provide an update on Sura? Is he out for good or will he back next season? Thanks!

Honestly even if we do marginally make the playoffs, what does anyone expect the Rockets to do then. Mcgrady will be forcing himself to get back on the court early. We haven't exactly surrounded our two stars with the role players necessary to even make it to the next round or may I say one game of the playoffs. Let's not hurt our guys and start planning on the offseason. I am surprised there aren't a gazillion potential gazillion trade thoughts for the offseason as of yet. I thought it would have filled page one by now.
